The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) supervises a major international financial center which was affected, though not significantly so, by the financial crisis. The HKMA is maintaining its commitment to the international regulatory reform agenda and is an early adopter of many standards. Supervisory practices, standards, and approaches are well integrated, risk based and of very high quality. There is one area in relation to the overarching legislative framework and powers which warrants further attention. The HKMA enjoys clear de facto but not de jure operational independence. There are two important cross border dimensions for Hong Kong as an international financial center. One is related to HKSAR?s significant position as a host supervisor. The second is the increasing importance of Mainland China in the current portfolios and prospects of the locally incorporated institutions, and indeed in the choice of HKSAR as a platform for overseas institutions to establish relationships with Mainland China. 410 0$aIMF Staff Country Reports; Country Report ;$vNo. 2014/207 606 $aTaxation$zChina$zHong Kong 606 $aMoney$zChina$zHong Kong 606 $aBanks and banking$zChina$zHong Kong 606 $aLabor market$zChina$zHong Kong 606 $aBanks and Banking$2imf 606 $aPublic Finance$2imf 606 $aIntelligence (AI) & Semantics$2imf 606 $aTechnological Change: Choices and Consequences$2imf 606 $aDiffusion Processes$2imf 606 $aBanks$2imf 606 $aDepository Institutions$2imf 606 $aMicro Finance Institutions$2imf 606 $aMortgages$2imf 606 $aFinancing Policy$2imf 606 $aFinancial Risk and Risk Management$2imf 606 $aCapital and Ownership Structure$2imf 606 $aValue of Firms$2imf 606 $aGoodwill$2imf 606 $aPublic Administration$2imf 606 $aPublic Sector Accounting and Audits$2imf 606 $aFinancial Institutions and Services: Government Policy and Regulation$2imf 606 $aArtificial intelligence$2imf 606 $aBanking$2imf 606 $aFinancial services law & regulation$2imf 606 $aManagement accounting & bookkeeping$2imf 606 $aMarket risk$2imf 606 $aCredit risk$2imf 606 $aExternal audit$2imf 606 $aTechnology$2imf 606 $aFinancial regulation and supervision$2imf 606 $aPublic financial management (PFM)$2imf 606 $aCapital adequacy requirements$2imf 606 $aBanks and banking$2imf 606 $aFinancial risk management$2imf 606 $aAuditing$2imf 606 $aAsset requirements$2imf 607 $aHong Kong (China)$xForeign economic relations 607 $aHong Kong Special Administrative Region, People's Republic of China$2imf 615 0$aTaxation 615 0$aMoney 615 0$aBanks and banking 615 0$aLabor market 615 7$aBanks and Banking 615 7$aPublic Finance 615 7$aIntelligence (AI) & Semantics 615 7$aTechnological Change: Choices and Consequences 615 7$aDiffusion Processes 615 7$aBanks 615 7$aDepository Institutions 615 7$aMicro Finance Institutions 615 7$aMortgages 615 7$aFinancing Policy 615 7$aFinancial Risk and Risk Management 615 7$aCapital and Ownership Structure 615 7$aValue of Firms 615 7$aGoodwill 615 7$aPublic Administration 615 7$aPublic Sector Accounting and Audits 615 7$aFinancial Institutions and Services: Government Policy and Regulation 615 7$aArtificial intelligence 615 7$aBanking 615 7$aFinancial services law & regulation 615 7$aManagement accounting & bookkeeping 615 7$aMarket risk 615 7$aCredit risk 615 7$aExternal audit 615 7$aTechnology 615 7$aFinancial regulation and supervision 615 7$aPublic financial management (PFM) 615 7$aCapital adequacy requirements 615 7$aBanks and banking 615 7$aFinancial risk management 615 7$aAuditing 615 7$aAsset requirements 676 $a382.095125005 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910791297403321 996 $aPeople's republic of China-Hong Kong special administrative region$93418187 997 $aUNINA
