Conclusion. . 330 $aThe New Plantation examines the controversial relationship between predominantly White NCAA Division I Institutions (PWI s) and black athletes, utilizing an internal colonial model. It provides a much-needed in-depth analysis to fully comprehend the magnitude of the forces at work that impact black athletes experiences at PWI s. Hawkins provides a conceptual framework for understanding the structural arrangements of PWI s and how they present challenges to Black athletes academic success; yet, challenges some have overcome and gone on to successful careers, while many have succumbed to these prevailing structural arrangements and have not benefited accordingly. The work is a call for academic reform, collective accountability from the communities that bear the burden of nurturing this athletic talent and the institutions that benefit from it, and collective consciousness to the Black male athletes that make of the largest percentage of athletes who generate the most revenue for the NCAA and its member institutions. Its hope is to promote a balanced exchange in the athletic services rendered and the educational services received. 606 $aInternational education  606 $aComparative education 606 $aEthnicity 606 $aHigher education 606 $aSchool management and organization 606 $aSchool administration 606 $aEducational policy 606 $aEducation and state 606 $aInternational and Comparative Education$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O13000 606 $aEthnicity Studies$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X22180 606 $aHigher Education$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O36000 606 $aAdministration, Organization and Leadership$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O17000 606 $aEducational Policy and Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O19000 606 $aEducational Policy and Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O19000 607 $aUnited States$xRace relations 615 0$aInternational education . 615 0$aComparative education. 615 0$aEthnicity. 615 0$aHigher education. 615 0$aSchool management and organization. 615 0$aSchool administration. 615 0$aEducational policy. 615 0$aEducation and state. 615 14$aInternational and Comparative Education. 615 24$aEthnicity Studies. 615 24$aHigher Education. 615 24$aAdministration, Organization and Leadership. 615 24$aEducational Policy and Politics. 615 24$aEducational Policy and Politics. 676 $a796.04308996073 676 $a796.08996073 676 $a796/.08996073 700 $aHawkins$b B$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01532473 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910791095203321 996 $aThe New Plantation$93778627 997 $aUNINA
