While this is a major reduction in China's external imbalance, it has not been accompanied by a decisive shift toward consumption-based growth. Instead, the compression in its external surplus has been accomplished through increasing fixed investment so that it is now an even higher share of China's national economy. This increasing reliance on fixed investment as the main driver of China's growth raises questions about the durability of the compression in the external surplus and the sustainability of the current growth model that has had unprecedented success in lifting about 500 million people out of poverty over the last three decades. This volume examines various aspects of the rebalancing process underway in China, highlighting policy lessons for achieving stable, sustainable, and inclusive growth. 410 0$aBooks 606 $aGlobalization$xEconomic aspects$zChina 606 $aGlobalization$xPolitical aspects$zChina 606 $aExports$zChina 606 $aBanks and Banking$2imf 606 $aExports and Imports$2imf 606 $aLabor$2imf 606 $aMacroeconomics$2imf 606 $aProduction and Operations Management$2imf 606 $aAggregate Factor Income Distribution$2imf 606 $aLabor Economics: General$2imf 606 $aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects$2imf 606 $aPersonal Income, Wealth, and Their Distributions$2imf 606 $aTrade: General$2imf 606 $aDemand and Supply of Labor: General$2imf 606 $aProduction$2imf 606 $aCost$2imf 606 $aCapital and Total Factor Productivity$2imf 606 $aCapacity$2imf 606 $aLabour$2imf 606 $aincome economics$2imf 606 $aInternational economics$2imf 606 $aFinance$2imf 606 $aBanking$2imf 606 $aCurrency$2imf 606 $aForeign exchange$2imf 606 $aReal interest rates$2imf 606 $aPersonal income$2imf 606 $aIncome$2imf 606 $aTotal factor productivity$2imf 606 $aFinancial services$2imf 606 $aNational accounts$2imf 606 $aLabor supply$2imf 606 $aExports$2imf 606 $aInternational trade$2imf 606 $aLabor economics$2imf 606 $aInterest rates$2imf 606 $aIndustrial productivity$2imf 606 $aLabor market$2imf 607 $aChina$xEconomic conditions 607 $aChina, People's Republic of$2imf 615 0$aGlobalization$xEconomic aspects 615 0$aGlobalization$xPolitical aspects 615 0$aExports 615 7$aBanks and Banking 615 7$aExports and Imports 615 7$aLabor 615 7$aMacroeconomics 615 7$aProduction and Operations Management 615 7$aAggregate Factor Income Distribution 615 7$aLabor Economics: General 615 7$aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects 615 7$aPersonal Income, Wealth, and Their Distributions 615 7$aTrade: General 615 7$aDemand and Supply of Labor: General 615 7$aProduction 615 7$aCost 615 7$aCapital and Total Factor Productivity 615 7$aCapacity 615 7$aLabour 615 7$aincome economics 615 7$aInternational economics 615 7$aFinance 615 7$aBanking 615 7$aCurrency 615 7$aForeign exchange 615 7$aReal interest rates 615 7$aPersonal income 615 7$aIncome 615 7$aTotal factor productivity 615 7$aFinancial services 615 7$aNational accounts 615 7$aLabor supply 615 7$aExports 615 7$aInternational trade 615 7$aLabor economics 615 7$aInterest rates 615 7$aIndustrial productivity 615 7$aLabor market 700 $aSingh$b Anoop$01522140 701 $aNabar$b Malhar$01522141 701 $aN'Diaye$b Papa$01509571 712 02$aInternational Monetary Fund. 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910790840703321 996 $aChina's Economy in Transition$93761706 997 $aUNINA
