Panel (System GMM) regressions: The effect of developmental aid on growth 330 3 $aWe analyze the growth impact of official development assistance to developing countries. Our approach is different from that of previous studies in two major ways. First, we disentangle the effects of two kinds of aid: developmental and non-developmental. Second, our specifications allow for the effect of aid on economic growth to occur over long periods. Our results indicate that developmental aid promotes long-run growth. The effect is significant, large and robust to different specifications and estimation techniques. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2009/118 606 $aEconomic assistance$zDeveloping countries 606 $aEconomic development$zDeveloping countries 606 $aExports and Imports$2imf 606 $aMacroeconomics$2imf 606 $aForeign Aid$2imf 606 $aPersonal Income, Wealth, and Their Distributions$2imf 606 $aInternational economics$2imf 606 $aForeign aid$2imf 606 $aBilateral aid$2imf 606 $aAid flows$2imf 606 $aPersonal income$2imf 606 $aDevelopment assistance$2imf 606 $aInternational relief$2imf 606 $aEconomic assistance$2imf 606 $aIncome$2imf 607 $aCongo, Democratic Republic of the$2imf 615 0$aEconomic assistance 615 0$aEconomic development 615 7$aExports and Imports 615 7$aMacroeconomics 615 7$aForeign Aid 615 7$aPersonal Income, Wealth, and Their Distributions 615 7$aInternational economics 615 7$aForeign aid 615 7$aBilateral aid 615 7$aAid flows 615 7$aPersonal income 615 7$aDevelopment assistance 615 7$aInternational relief 615 7$aEconomic assistance 615 7$aIncome 700 $aReddy$b Sanjay$0602369 701 $aMinoiu$b Camelia$0874355 712 02$aInternational Monetary Fund. 712 02$aIMF Institute. 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910788333903321 996 $aDevelopment Aid and Economic Growth$93685544 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03961nam 2201033 450 001 9910790429603321 005 20230126203413.0 010 $a0-520-95745-8 024 7 $a10.1525/9780520957459 035 $a(CKB)2550000001115052 035 $a(EBL)1375431 035 $a(OCoLC)857711612 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001161298 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11748362 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001161298 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)11126690 035 $a(PQKB)10515746 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC1375431 035 $a(DE-B1597)520448 035 $a(DE-B1597)9780520957459 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL1375431 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10755765 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL515354 035 $a(EXLCZ)992550000001115052 100 $a20130919h20132013 uy| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 14$aThe jail $emanaging the underclass in American society /$fJohn Irwin ; with a new foreword by Jonathan Simon 210 1$aBerkeley :$cUniversity of California Press,$d[2013] 210 4$d©2013 215 $a1 online resource (177 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 $a0-520-27734-1 311 $a1-299-84103-1 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $tFrontmatter -- $tContents -- $tTables -- $tForeword -- $tPreface -- $tAcknowledgments -- $t1. Rabble, Crime, and the Jail -- $tAppendix -- $tNotes -- $tBibliography -- $tIndex 330 $aCombining extensive interviews with his own experience as an inmate, John Irwin constructs a powerful and graphic description of the big-city jail. Unlike prisons, which incarcerate convicted felons, jails primarily confine arrested persons not yet charged or convicted of any serious crime. Irwin argues that rather than controlling the disreputable, jail disorients and degrades these people, indoctrinating new recruits to the rabble class. In a forceful conclusion, Irwin addresses the issue of jail reform and the matter of social control demanded by society. Reissued more than twenty years after its initial publication with a new foreword by Jonathon Simon, The Jail remains an extraordinary account of the role jails play in America's crisis of mass incarceration. 606 $aJails$xSocial aspects$zCalifornia$vCase studies 606 $aPrisoners$zCalifornia$vCase studies 606 $aPrison psychology 610 $aalienation. 610 $aamerican class system. 610 $aamerican jails. 610 $aamerican prison system. 610 $aamerican society. 610 $aarrested persons. 610 $aattorney. 610 $abig city jail. 610 $aclass system. 610 $aconvicted felons. 610 $aconvicted. 610 $acriminal justice. 610 $acriminology. 610 $adiscrimination. 610 $ahuman condition. 610 $aincarceration. 610 $ainequality. 610 $ainmates. 610 $ajail reform. 610 $ajails. 610 $alock up. 610 $amass incarceration. 610 $apoverty. 610 $aprison reform. 610 $aprison system. 610 $aprison. 610 $aprisons. 610 $arabble class. 610 $aracism. 610 $asocial control. 610 $asocial science. 610 $asociology. 610 $aunderclass rabble. 610 $aunited states of america. 615 0$aJails$xSocial aspects 615 0$aPrisoners 615 0$aPrison psychology. 676 $a365/.6/0979461 700 $aIrwin$b John$0409242 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910790429603321 996 $aThe jail$93701083 997 $aUNINA
