The crusaders called the Dome of the Rock the ?Temple of the Lord,? while Muslim imagery depicted Solomon enthroned within the domed structure. Jews knew that the ancient Temple had been destroyed. Nevertheless, in their imagery, they commonly labeled the Muslim shrine ?The Temple.? That domed ?Temple? was often represented with a crescent on top. This iconography, long hidden in plain sight, reflects one aspect of an historical affinity between Jews and Muslims. 410 0$aStudies in religion and the arts ;$vv. 5. 606 $aJewish art and symbolism$xThemes, motives 615 0$aJewish art and symbolism$xThemes, motives. 676 $a296.4/91 700 $aBerger$b Pamela$f1940-$01572996 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910790391003321 996 $aThe Crescent on the Temple$93848501 997 $aUNINA
