Like liberal nationalists, Ryan Pevnick argues that citizens have special claims to the institutions of their states. However, the source of these special claims is located in the citizenry's ownership of state institutions rather than in a shared national identity. Citizens contribute to the construction and maintenance of institutions (by paying taxes and obeying the law), and as a result they have special claims to these institutions and a limited right to exclude outsiders. Pevnick shows that the resulting view justifies a set of policies - including support for certain types of guest worker programs - which is distinct from those supported by either liberal nationalists or advocates of open borders. His book provides a framework for considering a number of connected topics including issues related to self-determination, the scope of distributive justice and the significance of shared national identity. 517 3 $aImmigration & the Constraints of Justice 606 $aEmigration and immigration$xGovernment policy 606 $aDistributive justice 615 0$aEmigration and immigration$xGovernment policy. 615 0$aDistributive justice. 676 $a325/.1 700 $aPevnick$b Ryan$f1980-$0853445 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910459702403321 996 $aImmigration and the constraints of justice$91905640 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03020nam 2200673 a 450 001 9910790302303321 005 20230801223405.0 010 $a1-118-31039-X 010 $a1-280-88140-2 010 $a9786613722713 010 $a1-118-31037-3 035 $a(CKB)2670000000207458 035 $a(EBL)861692 035 $a(OCoLC)798534170 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000676785 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12347188 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000676785 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10679439 035 $a(PQKB)11006388 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC861692 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL861692 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10579500 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL372271 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000207458 100 $a20111115d2012 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aBecoming a green building professional$b[electronic resource] /$fHolley Henderson 210 $aHoboken $cWiley$dc2012 215 $a1 online resource (418 p.) 225 1 $aWiley Series in Sustainable Design ;$vv.33 300 $a"A guide to careers in sustainable architecture, design, development and more."--Subtitle from cover. 311 $a0-470-95143-5 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aWhy green buildings? -- What do green building professionals do? -- Green building education -- Fresh perspectives -- Experience of green building professionals -- Green building specialists -- Green building process & tools -- The business of green buildings -- The future of green building. 330 $aA career guide for professionals in sustainable architecture, design, planning, development, and related consulting For those considering a new career or a career change focused on green and sustainable building and design, Becoming a Green Building Professional offers practical information on educational requirements, career options, guidance and tips, and first-hand interviews with green building professionals.
