Ireland failed to achieve home rule within the United Kingdom and chose armed resistance, which led to independence for most of the country at the price of partition. Quebec achieved home rule as a province within the Canadian federation, which led to a century of relative stability followed by the Quiet Revolution and the rise of an independence movement. Almost simultaneously with increased pressure for independence in Quebec, the Irish question erupted again with an armed struggle between supporters and opponents of partition in the six northern counties. 410 0$aStudies in nationalism and ethnic conflict ;$v5. 517 3 $aDevelopment of nationalism in Ireland and Quebec 606 $aNationalism$zQue?bec (Province)$xHistory 606 $aNationalism$zIreland$xHistory 607 $aQue?bec (Province)$xHistory$xAutonomy and independence movements 607 $aIreland$xHistory$xAutonomy and independence movements 615 0$aNationalism$xHistory. 615 0$aNationalism$xHistory. 676 $a320.5409714 700 $aStevenson$b Garth$f1943-$0300670 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910789863203321 996 $aParallel paths$93692088 997 $aUNINA LEADER 05853nam 22007572 450 001 9910797390503321 005 20231005162013.0 010 $a90-485-2241-2 024 7 $a10.1515/9789048522415 035 $a(CKB)3710000000436172 035 $a(EBL)3563347 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001539685 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11859889 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001539685 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)11533258 035 $a(PQKB)10291865 035 $a(DE-B1597)502620 035 $a(OCoLC)913095903 035 $a(DE-B1597)9789048522415 035 $a(UkCbUP)CR9789048522415 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL3563347 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr11069062 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL804330 035 $a(OCoLC)932319290 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3563347 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000000436172 100 $a20201120d2015|||| uy| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 04$aThe political culture of the sister republics, 1794-1806 $eFrance, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Italy /$fedited by Joris Oddens, Mart Rutjes, and Erik Jacobs$b[electronic resource] 210 1$aAmsterdam :$cAmsterdam University Press,$d2015. 215 $a1 online resource (322 pages) $cdigital, PDF file(s) 225 1 $aIntellectual and political history. 300 $aTitle from publisher's bibliographic system (viewed on 14 Dec 2020). 311 $a90-8964-606-X 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $tFront matter --$tTable of Contents --$tTimeline of the Sister Republics (1794-1806) --$tThe political culture of the Sister Republics /$rOddens, Joris / Rutjes, Mart --$t'The political passions of other nations'.
