In Iran, the city of Shiraz was the principal center of philosophy at this time, and it was here that Najm al-D?n Ma?m?d al-Nayr?z? (d. after 933/1526), whose life and works are the subject of this book, spent his formative years. An accomplished Sh??? scholars, Nayr?z? engaged with Avicennan as well as Suhrawardian philosophy in his works. Beside Nayr?z?, the present study introduces his contemporaries among the philosophers of Shiraz and provides an outline of the main challenges of their thought, particularly of the two leading figures, Jal?l al-D?n al-Daw?n? (d. 908/1502) and ?adr al-D?n al-Dashtak?. 410 0$aIslamic philosophy, theology, and science ;$vv. 82. 606 $aIslamic philosophy$zIran$xHistory 615 0$aIslamic philosophy$xHistory. 676 $a181/.5 700 $aPourjavady$b Reza$01473655 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910789568603321 996 $aPhilosophy in early Safavid Iran$93690190 997 $aUNINA
