Weder der Verweis auf den Begriff ,Engagement' noch die Auflistung der Diskurse, in denen sich die Nachkriegsliteratur politisch positioniert hat, beantwortet diese Frage. Die vorliegende Studie entwickelt auf der Grundlage von Pierre Bourdieus Feldtheorie einen literatursoziologischen Autorschaftsbegriff und zeigt auf, wie die Inszenierung von Autorschaft der Literatur eine politische Funktion zuschreibt. Für die Legitimation ihrer Literatur greifen ,engagierte' Autorinnen und Autoren in ihren literarischen Texten auf gesellschaftlich anerkannte Kulturmuster zurück. Von der Kirchenkritik der 1950er- bis zur apokalyptischen Rhetorik der 1980er-Jahre beziehen sie sich in diesem Sinne insbesondere auf religiöse Motive, Narrative und Diskurse.
