The term intersectionality has been used most often to discuss the ways in which the dual and simultaneous statuses of 'black' and ''female' exist as facets of social structure and culture, interact in both those spheres, and affect individuals in ways which neither one does separately. Little attention has been paid to disability in this context, despite the many parallels to race and gender. This volume challenges critical thinking about the interrelationships with disability. It questions if the concepts and methods of intersectionality can be applied to disability at all or if they can be applied in the same way. The authors debate whether different conception of intersectionality would fit the disability context better and if there are methodologies which could be used to examine it. A variety of empirical evidence about situations in which disability intersects with other roles are also examined. 410 0$aResearch in social science and disability ;$vv. 7. 606 $aSocial Science / People with Disabilities$2bisacsh 606 $aSocial Science$xGeneral$2bisacsh 606 $aDisability: social aspects$2bicssc 606 $aPersonal & social issues: disability & special needs (Children's/YA)$2bicssc 606 $aPeople with disabilities$xSocial conditions 606 $aSociology of disability 615 7$aSocial Science / People with Disabilities. 615 7$aSocial Science$xGeneral. 615 7$aDisability: social aspects. 615 7$aPersonal & social issues: disability & special needs (Children's/YA) 615 0$aPeople with disabilities$xSocial conditions. 615 0$aSociology of disability. 676 $a362.196/8900971 676 $a362.2 676 $a362.4 701 $aBarnartt$b Sharon N$01489447 701 $aAltman$b Barbara Mandell$01251302 801 0$bUtOrBLW 801 1$bUtOrBLW 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910789146003321 996 $aDisability and intersecting statuses$93848822 997 $aUNINA
