The structure of the financial sector and its institutional arrangements indicate that financial integration is well advanced in some aspects. Common and foreign ownership of banks is very high and cross-border transactions are frequent in the government securities markets. Common institutions help achieve a high degree of similarity of rules. There is nonetheless scope for further financial integration as indicated by persistent deviations from the law of one price, limited cross-border bank transactions, and differences in treatment. Policy measures could therefore help achieve greater financial convergence. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2006/214 606 $aMonetary unions$zAfrica, West 606 $aBanks and Banking$2imf 606 $aFinance: General$2imf 606 $aInvestments: General$2imf 606 $aBanks$2imf 606 $aDepository Institutions$2imf 606 $aMicro Finance Institutions$2imf 606 $aMortgages$2imf 606 $aGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data)$2imf 606 $aBanking$2imf 606 $aFinance$2imf 606 $aInvestment & securities$2imf 606 $aFinancial integration$2imf 606 $aCommercial banks$2imf 606 $aTreasury bills and bonds$2imf 606 $aInterbank markets$2imf 606 $aBanks and banking$2imf 606 $aInternational finance$2imf 606 $aGovernment securities$2imf 607 $aAfrica, West$xEconomic conditions 607 $aCôte d'Ivoire$2imf 615 0$aMonetary unions 615 7$aBanks and Banking 615 7$aFinance: General 615 7$aInvestments: General 615 7$aBanks 615 7$aDepository Institutions 615 7$aMicro Finance Institutions 615 7$aMortgages 615 7$aGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data) 615 7$aBanking 615 7$aFinance 615 7$aInvestment & securities 615 7$aFinancial integration 615 7$aCommercial banks 615 7$aTreasury bills and bonds 615 7$aInterbank markets 615 7$aBanks and banking 615 7$aInternational finance 615 7$aGovernment securities 700 $aSy$b Amadou$01462056 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910788518803321 996 $aFinancial Integration in the West African Economic and Monetary Union$93670911 997 $aUNINA
