CONCLUSIONS""; ""REFERENCES"" 330 3 $aThis paper examines the impact of a monetary policy shock on output, prices, and the nominal effective exchange rate for Kenya using data during 1997?2005. Based on techniques commonly used in the vector autoregression literature, the main results suggest that an exogenous increase in the short-term interest rate tends to be followed by a decline in prices and appreciation in the nominal exchange rate, but has insignificant impact on output. Moreover, the paper finds that variations in the short-term interest rate account for significant fluctuations in the nominal exchange rate and prices, while accounting little for output fluctuations. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2006/300 606 $aElectronic books. -- local 606 $aMonetary policy -- Kenya -- Econometric models 606 $aMoney supply -- Kenya 606 $aBanks and Banking$2imf 606 $aEconometrics$2imf 606 $aForeign Exchange$2imf 606 $aMoney and Monetary Policy$2imf 606 $aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects$2imf 606 $aMonetary Policy$2imf 606 $aTime-Series Models$2imf 606 $aDynamic Quantile Regressions$2imf 606 $aDynamic Treatment Effect Models$2imf 606 $aDiffusion Processes$2imf 606 $aMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: General$2imf 606 $aFinance$2imf 606 $aMonetary economics$2imf 606 $aCurrency$2imf 606 $aForeign exchange$2imf 606 $aEconometrics & economic statistics$2imf 606 $aShort term interest rates$2imf 606 $aNominal effective exchange rate$2imf 606 $aMonetary transmission mechanism$2imf 606 $aVector autoregression$2imf 606 $aMonetary base$2imf 606 $aInterest rates$2imf 606 $aMonetary policy$2imf 606 $aMoney supply$2imf 607 $aKenya$2imf 615 4$aElectronic books. -- local. 615 4$aMonetary policy -- Kenya -- Econometric models. 615 4$aMoney supply -- Kenya. 615 7$aBanks and Banking 615 7$aEconometrics 615 7$aForeign Exchange 615 7$aMoney and Monetary Policy 615 7$aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects 615 7$aMonetary Policy 615 7$aTime-Series Models 615 7$aDynamic Quantile Regressions 615 7$aDynamic Treatment Effect Models 615 7$aDiffusion Processes 615 7$aMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: General 615 7$aFinance 615 7$aMonetary economics 615 7$aCurrency 615 7$aForeign exchange 615 7$aEconometrics & economic statistics 615 7$aShort term interest rates 615 7$aNominal effective exchange rate 615 7$aMonetary transmission mechanism 615 7$aVector autoregression 615 7$aMonetary base 615 7$aInterest rates 615 7$aMonetary policy 615 7$aMoney supply 700 $aCheng$b Kevin$01546592 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910788416003321 996 $aA VAR Analysis of Kenya?s Monetary Policy Transmission Mechanism$93802296 997 $aUNINA
