MAIN DATA SOURCES AND DESCRIPTION""; ""REFERENCES"" 330 3 $aThe effects of the IMF's data standards initiatives on sovereign borrowing costs in private capital markets are investigated for 26 emerging market and developing countries. Stable and significant panel econometric estimates indicate that subscription to the Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS) reduces launch spreads by an average of 20 percent while participation in the General Data Dissemination System (GDDS) reduces spreads for those countries with access to capital markets by an average of 8 percent. These estimates correspond to discounts of some 50 and 20 basis points, respectively. Evidence of similar discounts is also found when launch yields are analyzed. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2006/078 606 $aCapital market 606 $aDebts, Public 606 $aDisclosure of information 606 $aEconomic indicators$xStandards 606 $aFinance$vStatistics$xStandards 606 $aMoney and Monetary Policy$2imf 606 $aStatistics$2imf 606 $aData Transmission Systems$2imf 606 $aMethodology for Collecting, Estimating, and Organizing Macroeconomic Data$2imf 606 $aData Access$2imf 606 $aMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: General$2imf 606 $aData Collection and Data Estimation Methodology$2imf 606 $aComputer Programs: Other$2imf 606 $aData capture & analysis$2imf 606 $aMonetary economics$2imf 606 $aEconometrics & economic statistics$2imf 606 $aSpecial Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS)$2imf 606 $aCredit ratings$2imf 606 $aData dissemination$2imf 606 $aFinancial statistics$2imf 606 $aData transmission systems$2imf 606 $aFinance$2imf 607 $aCosta Rica$2imf 615 0$aCapital market. 615 0$aDebts, Public. 615 0$aDisclosure of information. 615 0$aEconomic indicators$xStandards. 615 0$aFinance$xStandards. 615 7$aMoney and Monetary Policy 615 7$aStatistics 615 7$aData Transmission Systems 615 7$aMethodology for Collecting, Estimating, and Organizing Macroeconomic Data 615 7$aData Access 615 7$aMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: General 615 7$aData Collection and Data Estimation Methodology 615 7$aComputer Programs: Other 615 7$aData capture & analysis 615 7$aMonetary economics 615 7$aEconometrics & economic statistics 615 7$aSpecial Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS) 615 7$aCredit ratings 615 7$aData dissemination 615 7$aFinancial statistics 615 7$aData transmission systems 615 7$aFinance 700 $aCady$b John$01546572 701 $aPellechio$b Anthony$01546573 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910788413403321 996 $aSovereign Borrowing Cost and the IMF?s Data Standards Initiatives$93802270 997 $aUNINA
