CONCLUSION""; ""REFERENCES"" 330 3 $aThis paper presents a new model based on the loan-pushing model by Basu (1991) to show how a domestic debt crisis can occur in a low-income country following donor herding. The model focuses on the rational herding behavior of donors due to payoff and information externalities. Although there are many theoretical models on herding behavior, these models have not formally considered the relationship between donor herding and domestic debt crisis in a low-income country. This paper is an attempt to fill this gap. The paper shows that due to donor herding behavior a domestic debt crisis can occur once the actual debt level is above the desirable one. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2006/109 606 $aDebts, External$zDeveloping countries$xEconometric models 606 $aEconomic assistance$zDeveloping countries$xEconometric models 606 $aBanks and Banking$2imf 606 $aExports and Imports$2imf 606 $aFinancial Risk Management$2imf 606 $aPublic Finance$2imf 606 $aIndustries: Financial Services$2imf 606 $aDebt$2imf 606 $aDebt Management$2imf 606 $aSovereign Debt$2imf 606 $aBanks$2imf 606 $aDepository Institutions$2imf 606 $aMicro Finance Institutions$2imf 606 $aMortgages$2imf 606 $aFinancial Crises$2imf 606 $aInternational Lending and Debt Problems$2imf 606 $aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects$2imf 606 $aPublic finance & taxation$2imf 606 $aFinance$2imf 606 $aEconomic & financial crises & disasters$2imf 606 $aInternational economics$2imf 606 $aDomestic debt$2imf 606 $aLoans$2imf 606 $aFinancial crises$2imf 606 $aDebt default$2imf 606 $aReal interest rates$2imf 606 $aDebts, Public$2imf 606 $aDebts, External$2imf 606 $aInterest rates$2imf 615 0$aDebts, External$xEconometric models. 615 0$aEconomic assistance$xEconometric models. 615 7$aBanks and Banking 615 7$aExports and Imports 615 7$aFinancial Risk Management 615 7$aPublic Finance 615 7$aIndustries: Financial Services 615 7$aDebt 615 7$aDebt Management 615 7$aSovereign Debt 615 7$aBanks 615 7$aDepository Institutions 615 7$aMicro Finance Institutions 615 7$aMortgages 615 7$aFinancial Crises 615 7$aInternational Lending and Debt Problems 615 7$aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects 615 7$aPublic finance & taxation 615 7$aFinance 615 7$aEconomic & financial crises & disasters 615 7$aInternational economics 615 7$aDomestic debt 615 7$aLoans 615 7$aFinancial crises 615 7$aDebt default 615 7$aReal interest rates 615 7$aDebts, Public 615 7$aDebts, External 615 7$aInterest rates 700 $aChirwa$b Ephraim$0802166 701 $aMlachila$b Montfort$01493464 701 $aKhamfula$b Yohane Anthony$01574008 712 02$aInternational Monetary Fund.$bWestern Hemisphere Dept. 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910788402803321 996 $aDonor Herding and Domestic Debt Crisis$93849999 997 $aUNINA
