The analysis suggests that currency unions with China tend to generate higher average welfare gains for East Asian countries than currency unions with Japan or the United States. Overall, Japan does not appear to be a dominant player in forming a currency union in East Asia, and this trend is likely to continue if China's relative presence continues to rise in the regional trade. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2009/003 606 $aMoney$zEast Asia 606 $aMonetary policy$zEast Asia 606 $aEconometrics$2imf 606 $aExports and Imports$2imf 606 $aMoney and Monetary Policy$2imf 606 $aTrade: General$2imf 606 $aEconomic Integration$2imf 606 $aFinancial Aspects of Economic Integration$2imf 606 $aMonetary Systems$2imf 606 $aStandards$2imf 606 $aRegimes$2imf 606 $aGovernment and the Monetary System$2imf 606 $aPayment Systems$2imf 606 $aTrade Policy$2imf 606 $aInternational Trade Organizations$2imf 606 $aComputable and Other Applied General Equilibrium Models$2imf 606 $aInternational economics$2imf 606 $aMonetary economics$2imf 606 $aEconometrics & economic statistics$2imf 606 $aMonetary unions$2imf 606 $aCurrencies$2imf 606 $aPlurilateral trade$2imf 606 $aRegional trade$2imf 606 $aGeneral equilibrium models$2imf 606 $aEconomic integration$2imf 606 $aMoney$2imf 606 $aInternational trade$2imf 606 $aEconometric analysis$2imf 606 $aEconometric models$2imf 607 $aJapan$2imf 615 0$aMoney 615 0$aMonetary policy 615 7$aEconometrics 615 7$aExports and Imports 615 7$aMoney and Monetary Policy 615 7$aTrade: General 615 7$aEconomic Integration 615 7$aFinancial Aspects of Economic Integration 615 7$aMonetary Systems 615 7$aStandards 615 7$aRegimes 615 7$aGovernment and the Monetary System 615 7$aPayment Systems 615 7$aTrade Policy 615 7$aInternational Trade Organizations 615 7$aComputable and Other Applied General Equilibrium Models 615 7$aInternational economics 615 7$aMonetary economics 615 7$aEconometrics & economic statistics 615 7$aMonetary unions 615 7$aCurrencies 615 7$aPlurilateral trade 615 7$aRegional trade 615 7$aGeneral equilibrium models 615 7$aEconomic integration 615 7$aMoney 615 7$aInternational trade 615 7$aEconometric analysis 615 7$aEconometric models 700 $aShirono$b Kazuko$01491232 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910788350403321 996 $aYen Bloc or Yuan Bloc$93712983 997 $aUNINA
