The purpose of this paper is to shed light on supply-side constraints that prevented Burundi's economy from growing faster. Lack of investment, civil conflict, economic inefficiencies, state intervention in the economy, and regulatory restrictions explain a large part of the weak growth performance for the last thirty years. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2009/011 606 $aEconomic development$zBurundi 606 $aInvestments: Commodities$2imf 606 $aInvestments: General$2imf 606 $aInvestments: Stocks$2imf 606 $aMacroeconomics$2imf 606 $aMacroeconomic Analyses of Economic Development$2imf 606 $aEconomywide Country Studies: Africa$2imf 606 $aForecasting and Other Model Applications$2imf 606 $aMethodology for Collecting, Estimating, and Organizing Macroeconomic Data$2imf 606 $aData Access$2imf 606 $aInvestment$2imf 606 $aCapital$2imf 606 $aIntangible Capital$2imf 606 $aCapacity$2imf 606 $aPension Funds$2imf 606 $aNon-bank Financial Institutions$2imf 606 $aFinancial Instruments$2imf 606 $aInstitutional Investors$2imf 606 $aAgriculture: General$2imf 606 $aAggregate Factor Income Distribution$2imf 606 $aInvestment & securities$2imf 606 $aDepreciation$2imf 606 $aStocks$2imf 606 $aAgricultural commodities$2imf 606 $aIncome$2imf 606 $aCapital accumulation$2imf 606 $aNational accounts$2imf 606 $aFinancial institutions$2imf 606 $aCommodities$2imf 606 $aSaving and investment$2imf 606 $aFarm produce$2imf 607 $aBurundi$xEconomic conditions 607 $aBurundi$2imf 615 0$aEconomic development 615 7$aInvestments: Commodities 615 7$aInvestments: General 615 7$aInvestments: Stocks 615 7$aMacroeconomics 615 7$aMacroeconomic Analyses of Economic Development 615 7$aEconomywide Country Studies: Africa 615 7$aForecasting and Other Model Applications 615 7$aMethodology for Collecting, Estimating, and Organizing Macroeconomic Data 615 7$aData Access 615 7$aInvestment 615 7$aCapital 615 7$aIntangible Capital 615 7$aCapacity 615 7$aPension Funds 615 7$aNon-bank Financial Institutions 615 7$aFinancial Instruments 615 7$aInstitutional Investors 615 7$aAgriculture: General 615 7$aAggregate Factor Income Distribution 615 7$aInvestment & securities 615 7$aDepreciation 615 7$aStocks 615 7$aAgricultural commodities 615 7$aIncome 615 7$aCapital accumulation 615 7$aNational accounts 615 7$aFinancial institutions 615 7$aCommodities 615 7$aSaving and investment 615 7$aFarm produce 700 $aBasdevant$b Olivier$01491229 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910788350003321 996 $aHow Can Burundi Raise its Growth Rate? the Impact of Civil Conflicts and State Interventionon Burundi'S Growth Performance$93712979 997 $aUNINA
