Results: Level and Variations of the Accounting Components of the Corporate Saving RateReferences 330 3 $aThe purpose of this paper is to examine factors that have constrained South Africa's growth since the end of apartheid by comparing its GDP components and its saving and investment performance with those of 10 faster-growing countries. The study finds that sluggish investment has undermined growth since 1996 and that the underinvestment is in part explained by limited saving. Thus, over the last decade, interactions between investment, saving, and production may have perpetuated slow growth in South Africa. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2009/025 606 $aEconomic development$zAfrica, Southern 606 $aEconomics$zAfrica, Southern 606 $aBanks and Banking$2imf 606 $aMacroeconomics$2imf 606 $aProduction and Operations Management$2imf 606 $aMacroeconomics: Consumption$2imf 606 $aSaving$2imf 606 $aWealth$2imf 606 $aInvestment$2imf 606 $aCapital$2imf 606 $aIntangible Capital$2imf 606 $aCapacity$2imf 606 $aMacroeconomic Analyses of Economic Development$2imf 606 $aMeasurement of Economic Growth$2imf 606 $aAggregate Productivity$2imf 606 $aCross-Country Output Convergence$2imf 606 $aEconomywide Country Studies: Africa$2imf 606 $aComparative Studies of Countries$2imf 606 $aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects$2imf 606 $aProduction$2imf 606 $aCost$2imf 606 $aCapital and Total Factor Productivity$2imf 606 $aLabor Economics: General$2imf 606 $aHuman Capital$2imf 606 $aSkills$2imf 606 $aOccupational Choice$2imf 606 $aLabor Productivity$2imf 606 $aFinance$2imf 606 $aLabour$2imf 606 $aincome economics$2imf 606 $aPrivate savings$2imf 606 $aReal interest rates$2imf 606 $aTotal factor productivity$2imf 606 $aLabor$2imf 606 $aLabor productivity$2imf 606 $aNational accounts$2imf 606 $aFinancial services$2imf 606 $aSaving and investment$2imf 606 $aInterest rates$2imf 606 $aIndustrial productivity$2imf 606 $aLabor economics$2imf 607 $aSouth Africa$2imf 615 0$aEconomic development 615 0$aEconomics 615 7$aBanks and Banking 615 7$aMacroeconomics 615 7$aProduction and Operations Management 615 7$aMacroeconomics: Consumption 615 7$aSaving 615 7$aWealth 615 7$aInvestment 615 7$aCapital 615 7$aIntangible Capital 615 7$aCapacity 615 7$aMacroeconomic Analyses of Economic Development 615 7$aMeasurement of Economic Growth 615 7$aAggregate Productivity 615 7$aCross-Country Output Convergence 615 7$aEconomywide Country Studies: Africa 615 7$aComparative Studies of Countries 615 7$aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects 615 7$aProduction 615 7$aCost 615 7$aCapital and Total Factor Productivity 615 7$aLabor Economics: General 615 7$aHuman Capital 615 7$aSkills 615 7$aOccupational Choice 615 7$aLabor Productivity 615 7$aFinance 615 7$aLabour 615 7$aincome economics 615 7$aPrivate savings 615 7$aReal interest rates 615 7$aTotal factor productivity 615 7$aLabor 615 7$aLabor productivity 615 7$aNational accounts 615 7$aFinancial services 615 7$aSaving and investment 615 7$aInterest rates 615 7$aIndustrial productivity 615 7$aLabor economics 700 $aEyraud$b Luc$01103642 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910788349503321 996 $aWhy isn't South Africa Growing Faster? a Comparative Approach$93712974 997 $aUNINA
