It describes the content of the database, the information sources utilized, and the coding rules used to create an index of financial reform. It also compares the database with other measures of financial liberalization, provides descriptive statistics, and discusses some possible applications. The database provides a multi-faceted measure of reform, covering seven aspects of financial sector policy. Along each dimension the database provides a graded (rather than a binary) score, and allows for reversals. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2008/266 606 $aFiscal policy$vDatabases 606 $aFinance$vDatabases 606 $aMonetary policy$vDatabases 606 $aFinance: General$2imf 606 $aMoney and Monetary Policy$2imf 606 $aIndustries: Financial Services$2imf 606 $aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects$2imf 606 $aMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: General$2imf 606 $aGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data)$2imf 606 $aFinancial Institutions and Services: General$2imf 606 $aFinancial Markets and the Macroeconomy$2imf 606 $aMonetary economics$2imf 606 $aFinance$2imf 606 $aInterest rate policy$2imf 606 $aCredit controls$2imf 606 $aSecurities markets$2imf 606 $aFinancial sector$2imf 606 $aFinancial sector development$2imf 606 $aInterest rates$2imf 606 $aFinancial services industry$2imf 606 $aCredit$2imf 606 $aCapital market$2imf 607 $aUnited States$2imf 615 0$aFiscal policy 615 0$aFinance 615 0$aMonetary policy 615 7$aFinance: General 615 7$aMoney and Monetary Policy 615 7$aIndustries: Financial Services 615 7$aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects 615 7$aMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: General 615 7$aGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data) 615 7$aFinancial Institutions and Services: General 615 7$aFinancial Markets and the Macroeconomy 615 7$aMonetary economics 615 7$aFinance 615 7$aInterest rate policy 615 7$aCredit controls 615 7$aSecurities markets 615 7$aFinancial sector 615 7$aFinancial sector development 615 7$aInterest rates 615 7$aFinancial services industry 615 7$aCredit 615 7$aCapital market 676 $a339.52 700 $aDetragiache$b Enrica$0120810 701 $aAbiad$b Abdul$01493465 701 $aTressel$b Thierry$01463685 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910788341303321 996 $aA New Database of Financial Reforms$93716464 997 $aUNINA
