The model provides potential explanations for the contradictory empirical results on the effects of public investment found in the literature as well as for the role of the quality of public infrastructure investment in creating a gap between rich and poor countries. From a policy perspective, the paper suggests that the link between public investment and growth depends critically on the quality and efficiency of public capital. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2009/154 606 $aPublic investments 606 $aEconomics 606 $aInfrastructure$2imf 606 $aMacroeconomics$2imf 606 $aPublic Finance$2imf 606 $aCriminology$2imf 606 $aMacroeconomic Analyses of Economic Development$2imf 606 $aInstitutions and Growth$2imf 606 $aBureaucracy$2imf 606 $aAdministrative Processes in Public Organizations$2imf 606 $aCorruption$2imf 606 $aNational Government Expenditures and Related Policies: Infrastructures$2imf 606 $aOther Public Investment and Capital Stock$2imf 606 $aInvestment$2imf 606 $aCapital$2imf 606 $aIntangible Capital$2imf 606 $aCapacity$2imf 606 $aLabor Economics: General$2imf 606 $aAggregate Factor Income Distribution$2imf 606 $aPublic finance & taxation$2imf 606 $aCorporate crime$2imf 606 $awhite-collar crime$2imf 606 $aLabour$2imf 606 $aincome economics$2imf 606 $aPublic investment and public-private partnerships (PPP)$2imf 606 $aPublic investment spending$2imf 606 $aLabor$2imf 606 $aExpenditure$2imf 606 $aCrime$2imf 606 $aNational accounts$2imf 606 $aIncome$2imf 606 $aPublic-private sector cooperation$2imf 606 $aPublic investments$2imf 606 $aSaving and investment$2imf 606 $aLabor economics$2imf 607 $aIndia$2imf 615 0$aPublic investments. 615 0$aEconomics. 615 7$aInfrastructure 615 7$aMacroeconomics 615 7$aPublic Finance 615 7$aCriminology 615 7$aMacroeconomic Analyses of Economic Development 615 7$aInstitutions and Growth 615 7$aBureaucracy 615 7$aAdministrative Processes in Public Organizations 615 7$aCorruption 615 7$aNational Government Expenditures and Related Policies: Infrastructures 615 7$aOther Public Investment and Capital Stock 615 7$aInvestment 615 7$aCapital 615 7$aIntangible Capital 615 7$aCapacity 615 7$aLabor Economics: General 615 7$aAggregate Factor Income Distribution 615 7$aPublic finance & taxation 615 7$aCorporate crime 615 7$awhite-collar crime 615 7$aLabour 615 7$aincome economics 615 7$aPublic investment and public-private partnerships (PPP) 615 7$aPublic investment spending 615 7$aLabor 615 7$aExpenditure 615 7$aCrime 615 7$aNational accounts 615 7$aIncome 615 7$aPublic-private sector cooperation 615 7$aPublic investments 615 7$aSaving and investment 615 7$aLabor economics 700 $aChakraborty$b Shankha$01472652 701 $aDabla-Norris$b Era$01462136 712 02$aIMF Institute. 712 02$aInternational Monetary Fund.$bStrategy, Policy, and Review Dept. 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910788331003321 996 $aThe Quality of Public Investment$93685515 997 $aUNINA
