What was striking about this conference was the experiment of two full-time Co-Chairmen, one from the United Nations and one from the European Union, who laboured tirelessly for peace in different parts of the former Yugoslavia for three and a half years. The strategies and organization of the conference had to be pieced together from the start by the Co-Chairmen and their colleagues; only in retrospect could the question whether there might have been experiences of international peace conferences that might have been useful at the beginning of this process be reviewed. This research is contained in Part One of this book, which offers a review of the role of international peace conferences in history. Part Two contains a case study of the strategies and experiences of the International Conference on the Former Yugoslavia. 410 0$aNijhoff law specials ;$vVolume 86. 606 $aPacific settlement of international disputes 606 $aPeace 615 0$aPacific settlement of international disputes. 615 0$aPeace. 676 $a341.7/3 700 $aRamcharan$b B. The notes are intended for graduate students in the mathematical sciences and researchers who are interested in solving problems involving partial differential and integral equations on the unit sphere, especially on the unit sphere in three-dimensional Euclidean space. Some related work for approximation on the unit disk in the plane is also briefly discussed, with results being generalizable to the unit ball in more dimensions. 410 0$aLecture notes in mathematics (Springer-Verlag) ;$v2044. 606 $aSpherical harmonics 606 $aSpherical functions 615 0$aSpherical harmonics. 615 0$aSpherical functions. 676 $a515/.53 700 $aAtkinson$b Kendall E$054021 701 $aHan$b Weimin$0287589 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910483618103321 996 $aSpherical harmonics and approximations on the unit sphere$9853807 997 $aUNINA
