A vast and ever-growing literature exists, first on the entry and settlement of Japanese immigrants in the United States at the turn of the 20th century, then on the experience of the immigrants and their American-born children during World War II. Yet the essential question, "What happened afterwards?" remains all but unanswered in historical literature. Excluded from the wartime economic boom and scarred psychologically by their wartime ordeal, the former camp inmates struggled to remake their lives in the years that followed. This volume consists of a series of case studies that shed light on various developments relating to Japanese Americans in the aftermath of their wartime confinement, including resettlement nationwide, the mental and physical readjustment of the former inmates, and their political engagement, most notably in concert with other racialized and ethnic minority groups. 410 0$aACLS Fellows' Publications. 606 $aJapanese Americans$xSocial conditions$y20th century 606 $aJapanese Americans$xPolitics and government$y20th century 606 $aJapanese Americans$xCivil rights$xHistory$y20th century 606 $aJapanese Americans$xForced removal and internment, 1942-1945 606 $aCold War$xSocial aspects$zUnited States 606 $aCommunity life$zUnited States$xHistory$y20th century 607 $aUnited States$xSocial conditions$y1945- 607 $aUnited States$xEthnic relations$y20th century 610 $a20th century history. 610 $aaftermath of world war i. 610 $aalien land act. 610 $aamerican born immigrant children. 610 $aamerican history. 610 $aasian american history. 610 $adiscrimination in american history. 610 $aethnic minority groups. 610 $ahistorical literature. 610 $aimmigrant struggles in america. 610 $ainternment. 610 $ajapanese american history. 610 $ajapanese american struggles. 610 $ajapanese internment. 610 $aleisure reads. 610 $anonfiction. 610 $apolitics and history. 610 $apostwar history. 610 $arace ethnicity. 610 $arace in 20th century america. 610 $avacation reads. 610 $aworld war ii history. 615 0$aJapanese Americans$xSocial conditions 615 0$aJapanese Americans$xPolitics and government 615 0$aJapanese Americans$xCivil rights$xHistory 615 0$aJapanese Americans$xForced removal and internment, 1942-1945. 615 0$aCold War$xSocial aspects 615 0$aCommunity life$xHistory 676 $a973/.04956 700 $aRobinson$b Greg$f1966-$0512224 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910787594903321 996 $aAfter Camp$91766373 997 $aUNINA
