As developed here, that term designates not the quick coup d'état of 1868 but a three-centuries-long project of rehabilitating an ancient map for modern purposes. Drawing on a wide range of geographical documents from Shinano (present-day Nagano Prefecture), Wigen argues that both the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate (1600-1868) and the reformers of the Meiji era (1868-1912) recruited the classical map to serve the cause of administrative reform. Nor were they alone; provincial men of letters played an equally critical role in bringing imperial geography back to life in the countryside. To substantiate these claims, Wigen traces the continuing career of the classical court's most important unit of governance-the province-in central Honshu. 410 0$aAsia--local studies/global themes ;$v17. 517 3 $aGeographies of restoration in central Japan, 1600-1912 606 $aCartography$zJapan$xHistory 607 $aNagano-ken (Japan)$xHistorical geography 607 $aNagano-ken (Japan)$xHistory 607 $aJapan$xAdministrative and political divisions$xHistory 607 $aJapan$xMaps$xHistory 607 $aJapan$xHistorical geography 610 $aadministrative reform. 610 $aasia scholars. 610 $aasian studies. 610 $acartographers. 610 $acartography. 610 $aclassical maps. 610 $acoup detat. 610 $aearly modern japan. 610 $ageographical documents. 610 $agovernment impact. 610 $ahistorical geography. 610 $ahistorical. 610 $ahonshu. 610 $aimperial geography. 610 $aishin. 610 $ajapan. 610 $ajapanese countryside. 610 $ajapanese geography. 610 $ajapanese history. 610 $amap rehabilitation. 610 $amaps. 610 $ameiji era. 610 $anagano prefecture. 610 $apolitical history. 610 $aregional cartography. 610 $arestoration. 610 $ashinano. 610 $atokugawa shogunate. 615 0$aCartography$xHistory. 676 $a911/.520903 700 $aWigen$b Ka?ren$f1958-$01011841 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910786714903321 996 $aA malleable map$93728621 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03607nam 22005895 450 001 9910523001503321 005 20251113190751.0 010 $a9781484278574 010 $a1484278577 024 7 $a10.1007/978-1-4842-7857-4 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC6827118 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL6827118 035 $a(CKB)20151344500041 035 $a(OCoLC)1290021286 035 $a(OCoLC)1289365949 035 $a(OCoLC-P)1289365949 035 $a(CaSebORM)9781484278574 035 $a(Perlego)4513640 035 $a(DE-He213)978-1-4842-7857-4 035 $a(EXLCZ)9920151344500041 100 $a20220124d2022 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aBeginning VFX with Autodesk Maya $eCreate Industry-Standard Visual Effects from Scratch /$fby Abhishek Kumar 205 $a1st ed. 2022. 210 1$aBerkeley, CA :$cApress :$cImprint: Apress,$d2022. 215 $a1 online resource (389 pages) 300 $aIncludes index. 311 08$a9781484278567 311 08$a1484278569 327 $aChapter 1: Introduction to Visual Effects (VFX) -- Chapter 2: History of Visual Effects -- Chapter 3: Industrial Applications of VFX -- Chapter 4: Introduction to FX in Maya -- Chapter 5: Working with n-Particle FX -- Chapter 6: Creating Effects with Particle Emission, Fields/Solvers -- Chapter 7: Maya Rigid and Soft Body Systems -- Chapter 8: Working with Maya Fluids -- Chapter 9: Magical FX Using Maya -- Chapter 10: Playing with Maya nCloth -- Chapter 11: Maya Hair FX Simulation -- Chapter 12: Bifrost Simulation -- Chapter 13: Procedural Animation FX and Live Action Integration. 330 $aDive into the nuances of visual effects (VFX) design, from planning to execution, using Autodesk Maya. This book introduces the methods and techniques required for your first foray into 3D FX generation from scratch. You will start with the fundamentals of visual effects, including a history of VFX, tools and techniques for creating believable visual effects, and popular tools used in the industry. Next, you are introduced to Autodesk Maya and its various components that make it a favorite among professionals. You will learn how to create rigid body collisions and simulate realistic particles such as dust, fire, water, and more. This book also presents strategies for creating a vortex, rain, hair, fluids, and other soft body simulations and also demonstrates nature element simulations for computer-generated production. At the end of the book, there is a capstone project to make your own visual effects scene in a practical way. After going through this book, you will be able to start building computer-generated visual effects from your imagination through to production. What You Will Learn Understand the basic physics behind effect creation Create 3D visual effects scenes from scratch Know the details of dynamic simulation in the computer generation space using various functionalities available in Autodesk Maya. 606 $aVideo games$xProgramming 606 $aComputer graphics 606 $aGame Development 606 $aComputer Graphics 615 0$aVideo games$xProgramming. 615 0$aComputer graphics. 615 14$aGame Development. 615 24$aComputer Graphics. 676 $a006.696 700 $aKumar$b Abhishek$0977677 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910523001503321 996 $aBeginning VFX with Autodesk Maya$92590803 997 $aUNINA
