Black Girls collects and explores the stories of some of the first among these workers. They are the Afro-Surinamese and the Eritrean women who in the 1960's and 70's migrated to the former colonising country, the Netherlands and Italy respectively, and there became domestic and care workers. Sabrina Marchetti analyses the narratives of some of these women in order to powerfully demonstrate how the legacies of the colonial past have been, at the same time, both their tool of resistance and the reason for their subordination. 410 0$aStudies in global migration history ;$vVolume 16. 410 0$aStudies in global migration history ;$vVolume 4. 606 $aWomen household employees$zNetherlands$xSocial conditions 606 $aWomen household employees$zItaly$xSocial conditions 606 $aSurinamese$zNetherlands$xSocial conditions 606 $aEritreans$zItaly$xSocial conditions 607 $aNetherlands$xEmigration and immigration$xSocial aspects 607 $aSuriname$xEmigration and immigration$xSocial aspects 607 $aItaly$xEmigration and immigration$xSocial aspects 607 $aEritrea$xEmigration and immigration$xSocial aspects 607 $aNetherlands$xColonies 607 $aItaly$xColonies 615 0$aWomen household employees$xSocial conditions. 615 0$aWomen household employees$xSocial conditions. 615 0$aSurinamese$xSocial conditions. 615 0$aEritreans$xSocial conditions. 676 $a331.4086/91 700 $aMarchetti$b Sabrina$0595551 702 $aSorrentino$b Gisella 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910786613203321 996 $aBlack girls$93861681 997 $aUNINA
