The concept of minority has a specific understanding in the Turkish political, sociological and legal context due to the Ottoman Millet system approach. The conceptual discussion is illustrated by three case studies: religious minorities in Turkey that are the result of the elimination policies during the Turkish nation building process, Muslim minorities in Greece as heritage of the Ottoman domination until the 20th century, and new minorities originating from Turkey and living in France as the result of the Turkish immigration of 1960's and following decades. 410 0$aMuslim Minorities$v13. 606 $aMinorities$zGreece 606 $aMinorities$zTurkey 606 $aMuslims$zGreece 606 $aNational characteristics, Turkish 606 $aReligious minorities$zTurkey 606 $aTransnationalism 606 $aTurks$zFrance 607 $aFrance$xEthnic relations 607 $aGreece$xEthnic relations 607 $aTurkey$xEthnic relations 615 0$aMinorities 615 0$aMinorities 615 0$aMuslims 615 0$aNational characteristics, Turkish. 615 0$aReligious minorities 615 0$aTransnationalism. 615 0$aTurks 676 $a305 700 $aAkgonul$b Samim$0891381 701 $aOkur$b Sila$01500940 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910786106303321 996 $aThe minority concept in the Turkish context$93727849 997 $aUNINA
