But until now, no comprehensive effort has been made to connect the mythic life and career of Alexander to the stories about Jesus and to the earliest theology of the nascent Christian churches. Ory Amitay delves into a wide range of primary texts in Greek, Latin, and Hebrew to trace Alexander as a mythological figure, from his relationship to his ancestor and rival, Herakles, to the idea of his divinity as the son of a god. In compelling detail, Amitay illuminates both Alexander's links to Herakles and to two important and enduring ideas: that of divine sonship and that of reconciliation among peoples. 410 0$aHellenistic culture and society ;$v52. 606 $aChristianity 606 $aChurch history 606 $aGenerals$zGreece$vBiography 607 $aGreece$xHistory$yMacedonian Expansion, 359-323 B.C 607 $aGreece$xKings and rulers$vBiography 610 $aalexander the great. 610 $aamazonian queen. 610 $aancient greece. 610 $aancient history. 610 $aancient world. 610 $acampaign. 610 $achristian churches. 610 $achristianity. 610 $aconquest. 610 $ademigod. 610 $adivine son. 610 $adivinity. 610 $aearly church. 610 $aempire. 610 $afolk narrative. 610 $afolklore. 610 $agenerals. 610 $agreece. 610 $agreek gods. 610 $ahellenism. 610 $aherakles. 610 $ahistory. 610 $aindia. 610 $ajesus. 610 $alegend. 610 $alevi strauss. 610 $amacedonia. 610 $amilitary leader. 610 $amonotheism. 610 $amyth. 610 $anonfiction. 610 $aphilosopher king. 610 $apolitical science. 610 $areconciliation. 610 $areligion. 610 $ason of zeus. 610 $aspirituality. 610 $astructuralism. 610 $atalmudic alexander. 610 $azeus. 615 0$aChristianity. 615 0$aChurch history. 615 0$aGenerals 676 $a938/.07092 700 $aAmitay$b Ory$01504963 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910785428003321 996 $aFrom Alexander to Jesus$93734270 997 $aUNINA
