The chapters of the book attempt to answer a number of essential questions in relation to global warming and climate change. He begins by showing how the earth?s climate has varied in the past, discussing ice ages, the Holocene period since the end of the last ice age, particularly during the past 1000 years. He investigates the reliability of "proxies" for historical temperatures and assesses the hockey stick version of global temperatures for the past millennium. To do this effectively he looks carefully at how well near surface temperatures of land and ocean on earth have been monitored during the past 100 years or more, and looks at the utility and significance of a single global average temperature. Topics such as the variability of the Sun and the Earth?s heat balance are discussed in considerable detail. The author also investigates how the current global warming trend compares with past fluctuations in earth?s climate and what is the likelihood that the warming trend we are experiencing now is primarily just another in a series of natural climate fluctuations as opposed to a direct result of human activities. A key factor in understanding what may happen in the future is to examine the credibility of the global climate models which claim that greenhouse gasses produce most of the temperature rise of the 20th Century, and forecast much greater impacts in the century ahead. Finally, the book considers future global energy requirements, fossil fuel usage and carbon dioxide production, public policy relating to global warming, and agreements such as the Kyoto Protocol. 410 0$aSpringer-Praxis books in environmental sciences. 606 $aClimatic changes 606 $aEarth temperature 606 $aGlobal temperature changes 606 $aSolar radiation 606 $aGreenhouse gases$xEnvironmental aspects 615 0$aClimatic changes. 615 0$aEarth temperature. 615 0$aGlobal temperature changes. 615 0$aSolar radiation. 615 0$aGreenhouse gases$xEnvironmental aspects. 676 $a551.6 700 $aRapp$b Donald$f1934-$0302096 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910784779603321 996 $aAssessing climate change$9226225 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02859nam 22004695 450 001 9910350313803321 005 20250609110034.0 010 $a981-13-2532-4 024 7 $a10.1007/978-981-13-2532-8 035 $a(CKB)4100000006374543 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC5507725 035 $a(DE-He213)978-981-13-2532-8 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC5918193 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000006374543 100 $a20180903d2019 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aAir Purifier $eProperty, Assessment and Applications /$fby Zhonglin Xu 210 1$aSingapore :$cSpringer Singapore :$cImprint: Springer,$d2019. 215 $a1 online resource (147 pages) 311 08$a981-13-2531-6 327 $aIntroduction -- High-voltage Electrostatic Absorption -- UV Irradiation -- Fibrous Layer Filter -- Operational Property of Air Purifier -- Application Property of Air Purifier -- Calculation of Pollutant Load to Air Purifier -- Calculation on Cleaning Capability of Air Purifier -- Test and Assessment of Air Purifier. 330 $aThis book discusses the development, types and application principles of portable air purifiers in China. It analyzes the theoretical characteristics of air purifiers under various operational conditions, and points out that the term ?Clean Air Delivery Rate? cannot be used to precisely reflect the problems that occur under various operational conditions. By comparing theoretical and measured data, it highlights the main features of air purifiers and key points in the design process for different applications. Calculation methods for the indoor particle concentration and the self-purification time are also provided. The book describes the conditions for window opening in smog and for selecting air purifiers, and proposes a new method for improving their measurement. In closing, it includes a new assessment index. . 606 $aEnvironmental protection 606 $aEngineering 606 $aBuilding Physics, HVAC$3http://scigraph.springernature.com/things/product-market-codes/T23080 606 $aAtmospheric Protection/Air Quality Control/Air Pollution$3http://scigraph.springernature.com/things/product-market-codes/U35010 606 $aMachinery and Machine Elements$3http://scigraph.springernature.com/things/product-market-codes/T17039 615 0$aEnvironmental protection. 615 0$aEngineering. 615 14$aBuilding Physics, HVAC. 615 24$aAtmospheric Protection/Air Quality Control/Air Pollution. 615 24$aMachinery and Machine Elements. 676 $a628.53 700 $aXu$b Zhonglin$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0645947 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910350313803321 996 $aAir Purifier$91939045 997 $aUNINA
