As Downing's partner, and after Downing's death in 1852, Vaux designed country and suburban dwellings that were remarkable for their well-conceived plans and their sensitive rapport with nature. By 1857, the year he published his book Villas and Cottages, Vaux had moved to New York City. There he asked Frederick Law Olmsted to join him in preparing a design for Central Park. 606 $aArchitects$zUnited States$vBiography 607 $aCentral Park (New York, N.Y.)$xHistory 615 0$aArchitects 676 $a712.5097471 676 $a720.92 700 $aKowsky$b Francis R.$f1943-$0882034 801 0$bAU-PeEL 801 1$bAU-PeEL 801 2$bAU-PeEL 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910784730203321 996 $aCountry, park & city$93820905 997 $aUNINA
