Drawing from a rich body of documentary evidence, including memoirs and little-studied photographs, Michael Berkowitz traces the myths and realities pertinent to the discourse on "Jewish criminality" from the eighteenth century through the Weimar Republic, into the complex Nazi assault on the Jews, and extending into postwar Europe. 410 0$aS. Conclusion -- Appendix. 330 $aLabour migration from Malawi to South Africa is a ?century-old phenomenon'. It dates as far back as the 1880's following the establishment of diamond and gold mines. In the period up to the 1980's, this migration took either formal or informal nature whereas in the post-1990 period it became exclusively informal, popularly known as selufu in Malawi. This book is an attempt to shed light on both forms of migration over time. By using the case of Mzimba, one of the major labour migration districts in Malawi, Perspectives of Labour Migration shows that migration, especially in the post-1990 period, remains a preoccupation of the different categories of both men and women in selected areas in the country. A cross-section of Malawians continue to regard emigration to South Africa as a means to an end: a way of fulfilling their heart-felt and life-time goals at household and societal levels. Because of their distinguished and unparalleled determination, these labour migrants continue to ?flock' to South Africa in the midst of such challenges as xenophobia, crime, arrests and deportations. The book advances the argument that Malawian labour migrants are purposive and rational human beings who are ready to overcome these challenges, at times using the most improbable means, for example, through the use of mankhwala gha mwabi (luck medicine). 606 $aMigrant labor$zSouth Africa 607 $aSouth Africa$xEmigration and immigration 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aMigrant labor 676 $a331.5440968 700 $aBanda$b Harvey Chidoba$0914839 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910467669203321 996 $aPerspectives of labour migration from Mzimba District, Malawi, to South Africa$92050136 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02722nam 22005413u 450 001 9910784576503321 005 20230424103750.0 010 $a1-282-07159-9 010 $a0-253-11111-0 035 $a(CKB)1000000000362406 035 $a(EBL)255638 035 $a(OCoLC)475970521 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000110852 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11142745 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000110852 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10074343 035 $a(PQKB)10334132 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC255638 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000362406 100 $a20130418d2004|||| u|| | 101 0 $aeng 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aBeyond Casablanca$b[electronic resource] $eM. A. Tazi. Dwyer develops three themes simultaneously: the film maker's career and films; film making in postcolonial Morocco; and the relationship between Moroccan cinema, Third World and Arab cinema, and the global film industry. The conference has been organized at the Faculty of Electronics, Wroc?aw University of Science and Technology since 2006, and it continues the tradition of two other events: RELCOMEX (1977?89) and Microcomputer School (1985?95). The selection of papers in these proceedings illustrates the broad variety of topics that are investigated in dependability analyses of today?s complex systems. Dependability came naturally as a contemporary answer to new challenges in the reliability evaluation of these systems. Such systems cannot be considered only as structures (however complex and distributed) built on the basis of technical resources (hardware): their analysis must take into account a unique blend of interacting people (their needs and behaviours), networks (together with mobile properties, cloud-based systems) and a large number of users dispersed geographically and producing an unimaginable number of applications (working online). A growing number of research methods apply the latest advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and computational intelligence (CI). Today?s complex systems are really complex and are applied in numerous different fields of contemporary life. 410 0$aAdvances in Intelligent Systems and Computing,$x2194-5365 ;$v761 606 $aComputational intelligence 606 $aDynamics 606 $aNonlinear theories 606 $aArtificial intelligence 606 $aComputational Intelligence 606 $aApplied Dynamical Systems 606 $aArtificial Intelligence 615 0$aComputational intelligence. 615 0$aDynamics. 615 0$aNonlinear theories. 615 0$aArtificial intelligence. 615 14$aComputational Intelligence. 615 24$aApplied Dynamical Systems. 615 24$aArtificial Intelligence. 676 $a006.3 702 $aZamojski$b Wojciech$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aMazurkiewicz$b Jacek$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aSugier$b Jaros?aw$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aWalkowiak$b Tomasz$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aKacprzyk$b Janusz$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910484972703321 996 $aContemporary Complex Systems and Their Dependability$92852886 997 $aUNINA
