These legally-structured or less formal arrangements link economic, scientific and technological spheres with political and legal processes. They are challenging the type of governance which constitutional states were supposed to represent and ensure. They also provoke old questions: Who bears the responsibility for governance without a government? Can accountability be ensured? The term 'constitutionalism' is still widely identified with statal form of democratic governance. The book refers to this term as a yardstick to which then contributors feel committed even where they plead for a reconceptualisation of constitutionalism or a discussion of its functional equivalents. 'Transnational governance' is neither public nor private, nor purely international, supranational nor totally denationalised. It is neither arbitrary nor accidental that we present our inquiries into this phenomenon in the series of International Studies on Private Law Theory."--Bloomsbury Publishing. 410 0$aInternational Studies in the Theory of Private Law. 606 $aAdministrative responsibility 606 $aConstitutional law 606 $aInternational organization 606 $aNon-governmental organizations 606 $2Public international law 615 0$aAdministrative responsibility. 615 0$aConstitutional law. 615 0$aInternational organization. 615 0$aNon-governmental organizations. 676 $a327.1/72 676 $a341.2 702 $aJoerges$b Christian 702 $aSand$b Inger-Johanne 702 $aTeubner$b Gunther 801 0$bUtOrBLW 801 1$bUtOrBLW 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910784282703321 996 $aTransnational Governance and Constitutionalism$9930102 997 $aUNINA
