The authenticity of early H?anafi? texts : two books of al-Shayba?ni?. 330 $aThis pioneering study examines the process of reasoning in Islamic law. Some of the key questions addressed here include whether sacred law operates differently from secular law, why laws change or stay the same and how different cultural and historical settings impact the development of legal rulings. In order to explore these questions, the author examines the decisions of thirty jurists from the largest legal tradition in Islam: the Hanafi school of law. He traces their rulings on the question of women and communal prayer across a very broad period of time - from the eighth to the eighteenth century - to demonstrate how jurists interpreted the law and reconciled their decisions with the scripture and the sayings of the Prophet. The result is a fascinating overview of how Islamic law has evolved and the thinking behind individual rulings. 410 0$aCambridge studies in Islamic civilization. 606 $aIslamic law$xMethodology 606 $aIslamic law$xPhilosophy 606 $aIslamic law$xInterpretation and construction 615 0$aIslamic law$xMethodology. 615 0$aIslamic law$xPhilosophy. 615 0$aIslamic law$xInterpretation and construction. 676 $a297.3/82082 700 $aSadeghi$b Behnam$f1969-$0711769 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910453138203321 996 $aThe logic of law-making in Islam$92471260 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03481oam 2200661I 450 001 9910784098203321 005 20230617001159.0 010 $a1-135-77519-2 010 $a1-138-87009-9 010 $a1-135-77520-6 010 $a1-280-07800-6 010 $a0-203-50191-8 024 7 $a10.4324/9780203501917 035 $a(CKB)1000000000255786 035 $a(EBL)183098 035 $a(OCoLC)647386341 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000312105 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11260987 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000312105 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10329988 035 $a(PQKB)10098121 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC183098 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL183098 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10093539 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL7800 035 $a(OCoLC)56566712 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000255786 100 $a20180331d2004 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 00$aTurkish-Greek relations $ethe security dilemma in the Aegean /$feditors, Mustafa Aydin, Kostas Ifantis 210 1$aLondon ;$aNew York :$cRoutledge,$d2004. 215 $a1 online resource (373 p.) 225 1 $aThe ASAM series,$x1740-3758 300 $aErratum slip inserted. 311 $a0-203-60736-8 311 $a0-7146-5272-5 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references (pages [303]-345) and index. 327 $aBook Cover; Title; Contents; List of Tables; Notes on Contributors; Acknowledgements; List of Abbreviations; Introduction; Contemporary Turkish-Greek Relations: Constraints and Opportunities; National Perception of the 'Other' and the Persistence of Some Images; The Greek-Turkish Conflict: Towards Resolution and Reconciliation; Turning a New Page in Turkey's Relations with Greece? Yet in 1999 the two countries opened a dialogue on non-sensitive issues such as trade, the environment and tourism. The causes of the current rapprochement progress are explored in this book in relation both to the international environment which is increasingly conducive to this progress, and the significant domestic changes that both Greece and Turkey have experienced since the end of the Cold War.
