It demonstrates that the Icelanders - partly subjects of the king, and partly beyond his power - were ready to negotiate with him for their own benefit, and presents a methodological re-evaluation of authorial attributions of the sagas and their use as historical sources. Key to the book is a revisionary analysis of two laws made between the Icelanders and the kings of Norway: a law probably issued by King Óláfr inn helgi of Norway (1015-1028), and the purported submission agreements with King Hákon Hákonarson (1217-1263), known as Gizurarsáttmáli or Gamli sáttmáli. It also analyses the sagas of the fourteenth-century manuscript Möđruvallabók against the historical context extracted from this legal re-evaluation. 410 0$aThe Northern World ;$v17. 517 3 $aMediaeval Sagas and Legal Texts 606 $aLaw$zIceland$xHistory 606 $aSagas$xHistory and criticism 607 $aIceland$xHistory$yTo 1262 607 $aIceland$xRelations$zNorway 607 $aNorway$xRelations$zIceland 615 0$aLaw$xHistory. 615 0$aSagas$xHistory and criticism. 676 $a839.6/309 700 $aBoulhosa$b Patricia Pires$01519450 801 0$bNL-LeKB 801 1$bNL-LeKB 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910784032603321 996 $aIcelanders and the Kings of Norway$93757557 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03457nam 2200493 450 001 9910822349303321 005 20230125184858.0 010 $a1-63081-003-7 035 $a(CKB)3710000001139559 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL4821278 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr11367904 035 $a(OCoLC)968273863 035 $a(CaBNVSL)mat09101008 035 $a(IEEE)9101008 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC4821278 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000001139559 100 $a20200729d2016 uy 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $2rdacontent 182 $2rdamedia 183 $2rdacarrier 200 10$aControl engineering in development projects /$fOlis Rubin 210 1$aNorwood, Massachusetts :$cArtech House,$d[2016] 210 2$a[Piscataqay, New Jersey] :$cIEEE Xplore,$d[2016] 215 $a1 online resource (256 pages) $cillustrations 225 1 $aArtech House radar series 311 $a1-63081-002-9 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references at the end of each chapters and index. 327 $aControl Engineeringin Development Projects; Preface; 1Introduction; 1.1 Scope of This Book ; 1.1.1 Extent of Scope; 1.1.2 Limitations on Scope; 1.2 Control Engineering in an Engineering Enterprise ; 1.3 Control Engineering Within a Development Project ; 1.3.1 Technology Programs; 1.3.2 Concept Studies ; 1.3.3 Project Definition Phase; 1.3.4 Design Phase; 1.3.5 Implementation Phase; 1.4 Other Applications--With Other Challenges ; 1.4.1 A Flight Control System ; 1.4.2 A Nuclear Power Plant ; 1.5 Modeling and Simulation ; 1.6 Discussion ; 1.7 Some Questions; Bibliography; 2Technology Programs. 327 $a2.1 Introduction2.2 Sensor Technology; 2.3 Electric Motor Technology ; 2.4 Manufacturing Tolerances and Other Effects; 2.5 Test Facilities; 2.6 Controller Hardware and Software ; 2.7 Discussion; 2.8 Some Questions; Bibliography; 3Concept Studies; 3.1 Introduction; 3.2 Definition of the Plant; 3.2.1 Setting Up the Differential Equa. 330 $aThis practical new guide to designing control systems gives readers a "virtual experience" into the complex engineering problems that may occur during the design and development process. This book gives engineers guidance in their journey to obtain a greater understanding of the thought processes involved in designing and developing successful control systems for radar, flight control, and several other applications. This constructive new resource takes engineers through various phases of project development. Clear examples and case studies are presented throughout demonstrating various management styles. Readers discover a variety of challenges that could occur during actual projects. This book represents a unique contribution to the technical literature on control system design by illustrating principles in the language of control engineering with copious figures. It presents methodical procedures for setting up simulation models used for integrating controls systems with hardware in order to reduce errors. 410 0$aArtech House radar library. 606 $aAutomatic control$xDesign and construction 615 0$aAutomatic control$xDesign and construction. 676 $a629.8 700 $aRubin$b Olis$01665297 801 0$bCaBNVSL 801 1$bCaBNVSL 801 2$bCaBNVSL 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910822349303321 996 $aControl engineering in development projects$94023827 997 $aUNINA
