Speech Delivered at the University of Richmond School of Law -- on 11 April 2007 330 8 $aIn April 2007 COMBAR held its annual meeting in conjunction with the University of Richmond, Virginia. The timing of the meeting was designed to form part of the celebrations of the 400th anniversary of the signing of the Virginia Charter and the founding of Jamestown. The conference which was conducted at the meeting took as its topic The Rule of Law, and brought together lawyers from around the common law world (and some from outside) to debate the meaning and importance of this fundamentally important topic. Judges from the UK Court of Appeal and House of Lords were present to take part, along with members of the US Supreme Court and Courts of Appeal, and representatives from around the globe as well as from many different spheres of activity. This book, which commemorate both the conference and the Viriginia Charter, brings the learning and wisdom of the speakers to a wider audience 517 3 $aJamestown lectures 517 3 $aRule of law 606 $aRule of law$zUnited States 606 $2Common law 606 $aRule of law$zGreat Britain 607 $aJamestown (Va.)$xPolitics and government$y17th century 615 0$aRule of law 615 0$aRule of law 676 $a340.11 712 02$aCommercial Bar Association (Great Britain) 801 0$bUtOrBLW 801 1$bUtOrBLW 801 2$bUkLoBP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910782797303321 996 $aThe Jamestown Lectures, 2006-2007$93755114 997 $aUNINA
