An innovative combination of the Core Conflictual Relationship Theme (CCRT) method with narrative-qualitative analysis revealed common themes and emotional patterns that are played out in the survivors' children's meaningful relationships, especially in those with their parents. The relational world of the second generation is understood in the context of an intergenerational communication style called 'knowing-not knowing', in which there is a dialectical tension between knowing and not knowing the parental trauma. In the survivors' children's current parent-adolescent relationships with their own children, they aspire to correct the child-parent dynamics that they had experienced by trying to openly negotiate conflicts and to maintain close bonds. Clinicians treating descendents of other massive trauma would benefit from the insights offered into these complex intergenerational psychological processes. 606 $aChildren of Holocaust survivors$xMental health 606 $aChildren of Holocaust survivors$xPsychology 606 $aHolocaust survivors$xFamily relationships 606 $aPsychic trauma$xTransmission 606 $aTransference (Psychology) 606 $aHolocaust, Jewish (1939-1945)$xPsychological aspects 615 0$aChildren of Holocaust survivors$xMental health. 615 0$aChildren of Holocaust survivors$xPsychology. 615 0$aHolocaust survivors$xFamily relationships. 615 0$aPsychic trauma$xTransmission. 615 0$aTransference (Psychology) 615 0$aHolocaust, Jewish (1939-1945)$xPsychological aspects. 676 $a618.92/8521 700 $aWiseman$b Hadas$f1956-$01529060 702 $aBarber$b Jacques P.$f1954- 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910782500103321 996 $aEchoes of the trauma$93773084 997 $aUNINA
