Using a form of reader-response theory, Kissling examines the assumption that these characters are primary vehicles of the narrator's point of view. In three of the four cases it is concluded that traditional idealistic assumptions do not do justice to the textual evidence in its final form. The work calls upon the reader to consider the subtlety of the means used in portraying these heroes and gives evidence for the decidedly negative aspects in their portrayals. 410 4$aThe Library of Hebrew Bible/Old Testament Studies 606 $aProphets 615 0$aProphets. 676 $a221.922 700 $aKissling$b Paul J$01525602 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910782489303321 996 $aReliable characters in the primary history$93767100 997 $aUNINA
