It argues that neither an exclusively discourse-analytic perspective on the phenomenon nor an exclusively cognitive one can adequately account for conversational joking. Instead, the work advocates reconciling these two perspectives in order to describe such humor as a form of cognitive and communicative creativity, by means of which interlocutors convey additional meanings and imply further interpretive frames. Accordingly, in order to analyze cognition in interaction, it introduces a discourse-semantic framework which complements mental spaces and blending theory with ideas from discourse analysis. On the one hand, this enables both the emergent and interactive character and the surface features of conversational joking to be addressed. On the other, it incorporates into the analysis those normally backgrounded cognitive processes responsible for the additional meanings emerging from, and communicated by jocular utterances"--$cProvided by publisher. 410 0$aPragmatics & beyond ;$vVolume 310. 606 $aRussian language$xDiscourse analysis 615 0$aRussian language$xDiscourse analysis. 676 $a491.70141 700 $aThielemann$b Nadine$01674846 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910808250503321 996 $aUnderstanding conversational joking$94039894 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02026nam0 22004933i 450 001 VAN0263183 005 20231130092457.720 017 70$2N$a9783540389125 100 $a20230912d1984 |0itac50 ba 101 $aeng 102 $aDE 105 $a|||| ||||| 200 1 $aBordism of Diffeomorphisms and Related Topics$fMatthias Kreck 210 $aBerlin$cSpringer$d1984 215 $avi, 150 p.$d24 cm 461 1$1001VAN0102250$12001 $aLecture notes in mathematics$1210 $aBerlin [etc.]$cSpringer$v1069 606 $a57-XX$xManifolds and cell complexes [MSC 2020]$3VANC019671$2MF 606 $a57R20$xCharacteristic classes and numbers in differential topology [MSC 2020]$3VANC020718$2MF 606 $a57R50$xDifferential topological aspects of diffeomorphisms [MSC 2020]$3VANC024060$2MF 606 $a57R90$xOther types of cobordism [MSC 2020]$3VANC024259$2MF 606 $a57Qxx$xPL-topology [MSC 2020]$3VANC035170$2MF 610 $aAddition$9KW:K 610 $aBordism$9KW:K 610 $aBoundary Element Methods$9KW:K 610 $aClass$9KW:K 610 $aComputation$9KW:K 610 $aDiffeomorphism$9KW:K 610 $aFibrations$9KW:K 610 $aGroups$9KW:K 610 $aManifolds$9KW:K 610 $aMorphism$9KW:K 610 $aProofs$9KW:K 610 $aSubtraction$9KW:K 620 $dBerlin$3VANL000066 700 1$aKreck$bMatthias$3VANV217591$058042 712 $aSpringer $3VANV108073$4650 801 $aIT$bSOL$c20240614$gRICA 856 4 $uhttps://doi.org/10.1007/BFb0101007$zE-book ?
