The author'stheme in this book concerns the protective and preservative aspects of the type of autism which seems to be mainly psychogenic in origin, although there may be a minimal organic and hormonal disturbances. The author attempts to clarify the specific differential characteristics of this disorder. Based on this clarification, the functions and handicaps that are unique to 'Psychogenic' autism are discussed, and their sources pinpointed. The author adds to our understanding of autistic children, and the autistic capsule in neurotic adult patients, by showing that the autistic recourse to what she calls autistic sensation objects and autistic sensation shapes has handicapped cognitive, social and emotional development, which are shown to be intertwined. 606 $aAutism 606 $aChild psychiatry 615 0$aAutism. 615 0$aChild psychiatry. 676 $a616.8982 676 $a616.8982 20 700 $aTustin$b Frances$0161216 801 0$bFlBoTFG 801 1$bFlBoTFG 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910781384903321 996 $aThe protective shell in children and adults$949070 997 $aUNINA
