The project focused on a range of phonetic, lexical and grammatical sociolinguistic variants documented in studies of contemporary first language varieties of spoken French, and assessed the extent to which the students master the linguistic and extra-linguistic factors which govern variant choice. The book also discusses pedagogical strategies to improve the students' mastery of spoken French variation. The book represents an important contribution to an under-researched aspect of advanced Second Language Acquisition in an institutional setting. 410 0$aSecond Language Acquisition, No. 47 606 $aSecond language acquisition 606 $aImmersion method (Language teaching) 610 $aImmersion education. 610 $aL2. 610 $aSLA. 610 $aSecond Language Acquisition. 610 $aSociolinguistic Competence. 610 $aacquisition of the native norms. 610 $asecond language learning. 610 $asociolinguistic variation. 615 0$aSecond language acquisition. 615 0$aImmersion method (Language teaching) 676 $a306.44 700 $aMougeon$b Raymond$01501407 701 $aNadasdi$b Terry$01501408 701 $aRehner$b Katherine$01501409 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910780964603321 996 $aThe sociolinguistic competence of immersion students$93728525 997 $aUNINA
