The novel has become a proxy debate for two compelling scholarly and social issues of our time: the feminist/post-feminist challenge to patriarchal authority; and the textual construction of meaning and value. Presenting the feminine as both dominant and sacred brings attention to every text which argues for dominance or divinity. Traditional scholars are being challenged to defend their discipline... 606 $aWomen in literature 606 $aChristianity in literature 615 0$aWomen in literature. 615 0$aChristianity in literature. 676 $a813/.54 701 $aBowers$b Bradley R$g(Bradley Ray),$f1956-$01528312 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910780652503321 996 $aThe Da Vinci Code in the academy$93771806 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03202nam 2200625 a 450 001 9910969412003321 005 20260126184823.0 010 $a1-282-94916-0 010 $a9786612949166 010 $a90-04-19071-6 024 7 $a10.1163/ej.9789004165793.i-313 035 $a(CKB)2670000000067234 035 $a(EBL)634920 035 $a(OCoLC)695989931 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000444833 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11287378 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000444833 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10471038 035 $a(PQKB)11628530 035 $a(nllekb)BRILL9789004190719 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL634920 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10439271 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL294916 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC634920 035 $a(PPN)170723690 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000067234 100 $a20090603d2009 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aWisdom's root revealed $eBen Sira and the election of Israel /$fby Greg Schmidt Goering 205 $a1st ed. 210 $aLeiden [Netherlands] ;$aBoston $cBrill$d2009 215 $a1 online resource (329 p.) 225 1 $aSupplements to the Journal for the study of Judaism,$x1384-2161 ;$vv. 139 300 $aRevision of author's thesis (Th. Previous scholarship has often understood Ben Sira?s worldview to be dualistic, and has approached the sage's correlation of Wisdom and Torah as either a nationalization of Wisdom or a universalization of Torah. By probing Ben Sira?s ideas about election, this book suggests that Ben Sira does not collapse the traditional sapiential dichotomy wisdom/folly into a dualistic worldview, and that his understanding of the relation between Wisdom and Torah proves to be far more subtle than previous interpretations have allowed. The study demonstrates that the concept of election enables a profitable discussion of the relation of Wisdom and Torah in the thought of this pivotal Second Temple sage. 410 0$aSupplements to the Journal for the study of Judaism ;$vv. 139. 606 $aJews$xElection, Doctrine of 615 0$aJews$xElection, Doctrine of. 676 $a296.3/1172 686 $a11.41$2bcl 700 $aGoering$b Greg Schmidt$01889882 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910969412003321 996 $aWisdom's root revealed$94531281 997 $aUNINA
