In her impassioned and engaging Short Chronicle, she offers a singular account of the Reformation, reporting not only on the larger clashes between Protestants and Catholics but also on events in her convent-devious city councilmen who lied to trusting nuns, lecherous soldiers who tried to kiss them, and iconoclastic intruders who smashed statues and burned paintings. Throughout her tale, Jussie highlights women's roles on both sides of the conflict, from the Reformed women who came to her convent in an attempt to convert the nuns to the Catholic women who ransacked the shop of a Reformed apothecary. Above all, she stresses the Poor Clares' faithfulness and the good men and women who came to them in their time of need, ending her story with the nuns' arduous journey by foot from Reformed Geneva to Catholic Annecy. First published in French in 1611, Jussie's Short Chronicle is translated here for an English-speaking audience for the first time, providing a fresh perspective on struggles for religious and political power in sixteenth-century Geneva and a rare glimpse at early modern monastic life. 410 0$aOther voice in early modern Europe. 606 $aReformation$zSwitzerland$zGeneva$vSources 607 $aGeneva (Switzerland)$xChurch history$y16th century$vSources 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aReformation 676 $a274.94/5106 700 $aJussie$b Jeanne de$f1503-1561.$0869399 701 $aKlaus$b Carrie F$0869400 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910458693903321 996 $aThe short chronicle$91941019 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02892nam 22004693u 450 001 9910780465603321 005 20230607214356.0 010 $a1-280-50541-9 010 $a9786610505418 010 $a600-00-0405-2 010 $a1-60129-421-2 035 $a(CKB)111087028237624 035 $a(EBL)267491 035 $a(OCoLC)171570249 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC267491 035 $a(EXLCZ)99111087028237624 100 $a20130418d2002|||| u|| | 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 200 10$aEast-West Co-operation in Public Sector Reform$b[electronic resource] $eCases and Results in Central and Eastern Europe 210 $aAmsterdam $cIOS Press$d2002 215 $a1 online resource (196 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 $a0-585-45863-4 311 $a1-58603-235-6 327 $aCover; Title page; The International Institute of Administrative Sciences; Foreword; Contents; East-West Co-operation in Public Administration - a framework for assessment; Transformation and Transition: An Introduction; Assistance or Co-operation?; Cultural Issues - Success and Failure in Finland's Neighbouring Areas Co-operation; Models of Knowledge Transfer in East-West Collaboration: Organisational Co-learning or Ships that Pass in the Night?; Administrative Convergence in the EU: Some Conclusions for CEECs; Portugal as an Example for Candidate EU-Members 327 $aFrom Co-operation to Integration - the Case of PolandLearning Co-operation from Non-co-operation: Two Cases of Public Administration Development in Central and Eastern Europe; Ten Years of Cross-cultural Co-operation: Lessons, Feelings, Findings; The Issue of Sustainability in a Dutch-Russian Project; An Experience in East-West Co-operation: The Methodius Project in St. Petersburg; The Case of Public Administration and Management Education at the Faculty of Economics, Matej Bel University, Slovakia 327 $aEast-West Co-operation Models: An Analysis of the ""Babes-Bolyai"" University Public Administration ProgrammeConflicts and Motivation in Projects for Central Banks; East-West Co-operation in Public Administration: Ethics, Lessons and Conclusions; About the Authors; Author Index 330 $aBuilding on the experience of hundreds of projects and programmes over more than a decade, this is a comprehensive study of East-West co-operation in public-sector reform since the collapse of communism. 606 $aAdministrative agencies 615 4$aAdministrative agencies. 676 $a351.47 700 $aJenei$b G$01488491 701 $aLeLoup$b Lance T$01093806 701 $aBerg$b Frits van den$01488492 801 0$bAU-PeEL 801 1$bAU-PeEL 801 2$bAU-PeEL 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910780465603321 996 $aEast-West Co-operation in Public Sector Reform$93708738 997 $aUNINA
