Par quels chemins, de toute évidence autres que les grandes sources latines directes, comme certains indices nous le laissaient soupçonner, ces mythes païens étaient-ils parvenus à ces poètes depuis la lointaine Antiquité et le haut Moyen Âge ? De patientes inquisitions nous ont permis d?établir l?existence d?un secteur abondant d?intermédiaires mythographiques resté inexploré et qui fut un espace de prédilection, amplement visité par les poètes.
