It broke new ground in international fisheries law in terms of incorporating new environmental principles, provisions on compliance and enforcement, and the duty of States to co-operate. This volume explores how these commitments are acted upon by States in a selection of regional fisheries management regimes, covering fisheries from the European Arctic to the western and central Pacific Ocean. The cases chosen reflect the heterogeneity of institutional arrangements that are established at the regional level to manage straddling and highly migratory fish stocks. The authors review three established regional fisheries management regimes and two regional agreements establishing such regimes, negotiated following the UN Fish Stocks Agreement. 410 0$aPublications on ocean development ;$vv. 52. 606 $aFishery law and legislation 606 $aFishery management, International 606 $aFishes$xConservation 615 0$aFishery law and legislation. 615 0$aFishery management, International. 615 0$aFishes$xConservation. 676 $a343.07692 700 $aHenriksen$b Tore$f1964-$0595952 701 $aHønneland$b Geir$0800771 701 $aSydnes$b Are K$01554901 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910778420903321 996 $aLaw and politics in ocean governance$93816470 997 $aUNINA
