Economic development requires a modern, transparent corporate governance infrastructure based on efficient capital markets. Over the past decade corporate governance reform has become an important global policy agenda driven by events such as the 1997 Asian financial crisis, major corporate scandals (such as Enron and WorldCom) and the globalisation of capital markets. In several less developed and emerging economies corporate governance reform is also driven by the adoption of international donor led economic reforms. This in particular has made corporate governance reform an essential element of the development agenda promoted by the World Bank. The papers in the volume have provided wide ranging empirical and theoretical issues that will have policy implications and also generate future academic debates. Overall, the volume advances debate on corporate governance, accountability and transparency in less developed and emerging economies. We believe the audience will find the papers interesting and insightful in terms of theoretical development, practices and policy implications. 410 0$aResearch in accounting in emerging economies ;$vv. 8. 606 $aLaw$xCorporate Governance$2bisacsh 606 $aBusiness & Economics$xAccounting$xGeneral$2bisacsh 606 $aCorporate governance & responsibilities$2bicssc 606 $aDeveloping countries$2bicssc 606 $aCorporate governance 606 $aInternational finance 606 $aInternational economic relations 615 7$aLaw$xCorporate Governance. 615 7$aBusiness & Economics$xAccounting$xGeneral. 615 7$aCorporate governance & responsibilities. 615 7$aDeveloping countries. 615 0$aCorporate governance. 615 0$aInternational finance. 615 0$aInternational economic relations. 676 $a658.4 701 $aTsamenyi$b Mathew$01498039 701 $aUddin$b Shahzad$01498038 801 0$bUtOrBLW 801 1$bUtOrBLW 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910778083303321 996 $aCorporate governance in less developed and emerging economies$93827724 997 $aUNINA
