Inspired by Leo Apostel and in the footsteps of William James and Erich Fromm, the author argues that this contradiction, even within a radical atheistic discourse, is not automatically valid. Van Moer supports this proposition with a compelling phenomenological analysis of the religious experience, which results in a theoretical model with which he can investigate religious experiences within an atheistic context.
