Culturally Relevant School Health Policing in Zimbabwe. 330 $aThis book centralizes the importance of using culturally relevant models within health promoting schools (HPS) to promote the participation of Black students. In current HPS models Black students are often overlooked. The author presses beyond the mainstream, science-focused research on HPS to grapple with issues of power, prejudice, and oppression and focus on the social determinants of health. By focusing on social constructs as a constraint to Black students? wellbeing (rather than only disease), chapters present a multidimensional whole-school intervention aimed at comprehensively bridging the empowerment gap between Black students and historically privileged students. Lawrence Nyika recently completed his PhD in Educational Studies at St. Francis Xavier University, Nova Scotia. Currently, Lawrence is a part-time lecturer with the Institute for Capacity Development at Great Zimbabwe University. His research interests include health promoting schools, social determinants of health, and Black education. 606 $aSchools 606 $aSocial service 606 $aLife skills 606 $aEducation 606 $aChildren 606 $aSocial justice 606 $aSchool Research 606 $aChildren and Youth Work 606 $aLife Skills 606 $aSocial Care 606 $aChildhood Education 606 $aSocial Justice 615 0$aSchools. 615 0$aSocial service. 615 0$aLife skills. 615 0$aEducation. 615 0$aChildren. 615 0$aSocial justice. 615 14$aSchool Research. 615 24$aChildren and Youth Work. 615 24$aLife Skills. 615 24$aSocial Care. 615 24$aChildhood Education. 615 24$aSocial Justice. 676 $a371.7108996 700 $aNyika$b Lawrence$01435977 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910755081903321 996 $aAdvancing a Health Promoting Schools Agenda for Black Students$93594018 997 $aUNINA
