The volume grapples with apartheid as a global phenomenon that extends beyond the borders of South Africa between 1948 and 1994 and foregrounds the tension between the weight of lived experience that was and is apartheid, the structures that condition that experience, and a desire for a 'postapartheid social' (think unity through difference). Collectively, the contributors argue for a recognition of the 'the post-apartheid' as a condition that names the labour of coming to terms with the ordering principles that apartheid both set in place and foreclosed. The volume seeks to provide a sense of the terrain on which 'the post-apartheid' - as a desire for a difference that is not apartheid's difference - unfolds, falters and is worked through. 606 $aSocial & political philosophy$2bicssc 610 $aApartheid 610 $aEmpathy 610 $aHannah Arendt 610 $aHistory 610 $aNelson Mandela 610 $aPsychoanalysis 610 $aSigmund Freud 610 $aSouth Africa 615 7$aSocial & political philosophy 702 $aDonker$b Maurits van Bever 702 $aTruscott$b Ross 702 $aMinkley$b Gary 702 $aLalu$b Premesh 801 0$bScCtBLL 801 1$bScCtBLL 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910645974903321 996 $aRemains of the Social$92438838 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02959nam 2200625 a 450 001 9910955363803321 005 20251116230548.0 010 $a1-281-30750-5 010 $a9786611307509 010 $a92-4-068627-4 010 $a92-4-068262-7 035 $a(CKB)1000000000488534 035 $a(EBL)684639 035 $a(OCoLC)714569795 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000107179 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11133177 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000107179 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10006465 035 $a(PQKB)11702113 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC684639 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL684639 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10227092 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL130750 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000488534 100 $a20080122d2007 uf 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcn||||||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 00$aAtlas $eglobal resources for persons with intellectual disabilities, 2007 205 $a1st ed. 210 $aGeneva, Switzerland $cWorld Health Organization$dc2007 215 $a1 online resource (108 p.) 300 $a"Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, World Health Organization"--P.
