The current volume reveals the depths of Wittgenstein's soul-searching writings - his "new" philosophy - by concentrating on ordinary language and using few technical terms. In so doing, Wittgenstein is finally given the accolade of a neglected figure in the history of semiotics. The volume applies Wittgenstein's methodological tools to the study of multilingual dialogue in philosophy, linguistics, theology, anthropology and literature. Translation shows how the translator's signatures are in conflict with personal or stylistic choices in linguistic form, but also in cultural content. This volume undertakes the "impossible task" of uncovering the reasoning of Wittgenstein's translated texts in order to construct, rather than paraphrase, the ideal of a terminological coherence. 410 0$aSemiotics, communication and cognition ;$v9. 606 $aTranslating and interpreting$xPhilosophy 606 $aSemiotics and literature 606 $aIntertextuality 610 $aCultural Studies. 610 $aPhilosophy. 610 $aPragmatics. 610 $aSemiotics. 610 $aTranslation Theory. 610 $aWittgenstein. 615 0$aTranslating and interpreting$xPhilosophy. 615 0$aSemiotics and literature. 615 0$aIntertextuality. 676 $a192 686 $aCI 5011$2rvk 700 $aGorle?e$b Dinda L$0480137 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910779188403321 996 $aWittgenstein in translation$93851230 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04377nam 22006255 450 001 9910886995003321 005 20250807143435.0 010 $a9789819746965 010 $a9819746965 024 7 $a10.1007/978-981-97-4696-5 035 $a(CKB)34985200000041 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC31657837 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL31657837 035 $a(DE-He213)978-981-97-4696-5 035 $a(EXLCZ)9934985200000041 100 $a20240911d2024 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aCultural Communications Between China and The Outside World Throughout History /$fby Fuwei Shen 205 $a1st ed. 2024. 210 1$aSingapore :$cSpringer Nature Singapore :$cImprint: Palgrave Macmillan,$d2024. 215 $a1 online resource (326 pages) 311 08$a9789819746958 311 08$a9819746957 327 $aChapter One: Cultural Intercourse Between China and the Western Regions Before the Qin Dynasty -- Chapter Two: The Flourishing of Cultural Communication Between China and the Outer World: Han to Tang Dynasty -- Chapter Three: Transportation and Cultural Communication between China and the West during the Song and Yuan Dynasties -- Chapter Four: Foreign Trade in the Early Ming Dynasty and Zheng He?s Voyages to the West -- Chapter Five: Western transmission of the four great Chinese inventions -- Chapter Six: The Early Contact Between China and the Americas and Western Missionaries in China -- Chapter Seven: Chinese Culture and Western Europe in the 18th Century -- Chapter Eight: China and its Delayed Industrialization -- Chapter Nine: Cultural Interactions in China?s Reform and Modernization. 330 $aThis book starts from the very beginning of the cultural exchanges between China and the western regions, to the exchanges in modern times, featuring large time span and interdisciplinarity.
