The premise of this volume is that one needs to focus on the question ?What do Muslims do in terms of shari?a?? rather than ?What is shari?a??. This perspective shows that the practice of Sharia is restricted to a limited set of rules that mainly relate to religious rituals, family law and social interaction. The framework of this volume then continues to explore two more interactions: the Western responses to these practices of shari?a and, in turn, the Muslim legal reaction to these responses. 410 0$aIslam & society. 410 0$aDebates on Islam and society. 606 $aDomestic relations$zWestern countries 606 $aMuslims$xLegal status, laws, etc$zNon-Islamic countries 606 $aDomestic relations (Islamic law)$zNon-Islamic countries 606 $aIslam$xCustoms and practices$zWestern countries 606 $aIslamic law$zWestern countires 606 $aIslamic law$xInterpretation and construction 606 $aDomestic relations (Islamic law) 615 0$aDomestic relations 615 0$aMuslims$xLegal status, laws, etc 615 0$aDomestic relations (Islamic law) 615 0$aIslam$xCustoms and practices 615 0$aIslamic law 615 0$aIslamic law$xInterpretation and construction. 615 0$aDomestic relations (Islamic law) 676 $a340.115 686 $a341.224$2Moys 702 $aBerger$b Maurits 712 02$aLUCIS (Center), 801 0$bAuAdUSA 801 1$bAuAdUSA 801 2$bUkMaJRU 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910747090503321 996 $aApplying Shari?a in the West$91956587 997 $aUNINA
