The contributors examine individual case studies of grassroots engagement with war memory, and collectively demonstrate the necessity of remaining aware of the researcher as participating in another kind of engagement with war memory. Contributions showcase a number of ways of doing research on war memory, alongside case studies from diverse regions of the world. Taken together, they bring a fresh perspective to scholarship on war memory, which has tended to focus on space, text, exhibition, or personal narrative, rather than bringing these elements into dialogue with one another. Eveline Buchheim is Senior Researcher at the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Jennifer Coates is Senior Lecturer in Japanese Studies at the University of Sheffield, UK. . 410 0$aEntangled Memories in the Global South,$x2662-5695 606 $aCollective memory 606 $aWorld War, 1939-1945 606 $aAsia?History 606 $aHistory, Modern 606 $aJapan?History 606 $aChina?History 606 $aMemory Studies 606 $aHistory of World War II and the Holocaust 606 $aAsian History 606 $aModern History 606 $aHistory of Japan 606 $aHistory of China 615 0$aCollective memory. 615 0$aWorld War, 1939-1945. 615 0$aAsia?History. 615 0$aHistory, Modern. 615 0$aJapan?History. 615 0$aChina?History. 615 14$aMemory Studies. 615 24$aHistory of World War II and the Holocaust. 615 24$aAsian History. 615 24$aModern History. 615 24$aHistory of Japan. 615 24$aHistory of China. 676 $a950.41 700 $aBuchheim$b Eveline$01357801 701 $aCoates$b Jennifer$0214296 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910746087103321 996 $aWar Memory and East Asian Conflicts, 1930?1945$93563102 997 $aUNINA
