The method enables extracting maximum information from the fragments. It is exemplified on the scroll 4Q418a, a fragmentary copy of Instruction. 330 $aScholars working with ancient scrolls seek ways to extract maximum information from the multitude of fragments. Various methods were applied to that end on the Dead Sea Scrolls as well as on other ancient texts. The present book augments these methods to a full-scale protocol, while adapting them to a new computerized environment. Fundamental methodological issues are illuminated as part of the discussion, and the potential margin of error is provided on an empirical basis, as practiced in the sciences. The method is then exemplified with regard to the scroll 4Q418a, a copy of a wisdom composition from Qumran. 410 0$aStudies on the Texts of the Desert of Judah ;$v136. 517 3 $aThe Case of 4Q418a 606 $aQumran community 615 0$aQumran community. 676 $a296.1/55 700 $aBen-Dov$b Jonathan$01137142 702 $aGayer$b Asaf 702 $aRatzon$b Eshbal 801 0$bNL-LeKB 801 1$bNL-LeKB 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910743400303321 996 $aMaterial and Digital Reconstruction of Fragmentary Dead Sea Scrolls$93559835 997 $aUNINA
