Conclusion: Fatherhood, Race, and Gender. 330 $aBased on novel ethnographic research conducted in New York City, this book explores through the lens of intersectionality how gender impacts men?s experiences of full-time fatherhood, as well as how sexuality, race, class, faith, and so on result in unequal access to choices and opportunities as parents. Chapters analyze how perspectives on caregiving are complicated by varying cultural, gendered, and racialized stereotypes and representations that pull different fathers toward or push them away from particular models of fatherhood in an urban context. Additionally, the author interrogates how societal conceptions of men?s bodies also play a role in how men understand their experiences of fatherhood. This book will be of interest to scholars and students studying gender, masculinity, and fatherhood. Dr. Catherine Gallais has a doctorate in Anthropology, Sociology, and Gender Studies and specialises in fatherhood and masculinities. She is an associate memberof the research unit Laboratoire interdisciplinaire en études culturelles (LinCS ? UMR 7069) and a lecturer at the University of Strasbourg in France. Her scholarly interests are centered on issues of social justice, intersectionality, race and racism, practices of care and embodiment, always in relation to men, masculinities, and fatherhood. She has published book chapters and journal articles on men, masculinities, and care. 410 0$aGenders and Sexualities in the Social Sciences,$x2947-8790 606 $aMen 606 $aSociology 606 $aSocial groups 606 $aSex 606 $aRace 606 $aHuman body$xSocial aspects 606 $aAnthropology 606 $aMens' Studies 606 $aSociology of Family, Youth and Aging 606 $aGender Studies 606 $aRace and Ethnicity Studies 606 $aSociology of the Body 606 $aAnthropology 615 0$aMen. 615 0$aSociology. 615 0$aSocial groups. 615 0$aSex. 615 0$aRace. 615 0$aHuman body$xSocial aspects. 615 0$aAnthropology. 615 14$aMens' Studies. 615 24$aSociology of Family, Youth and Aging. 615 24$aGender Studies. 615 24$aRace and Ethnicity Studies. 615 24$aSociology of the Body. 615 24$aAnthropology. 676 $a306.8742097471 676 $a306.8742097471 700 $aGallais$b Catherine$01424378 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910739467403321 996 $aFatherhood and Masculinities$93553541 997 $aUNINA
